Apple updated their MacBook Pros at just the right time. They handle my 1080p videos from the 5D with ease. (2.53Ghz model)
That's good to know. It's what I've been thinking about. What type of firewire connections do they have? (I also shoot a JVC GY-HD250 with an external Focus Drive).
I'd also like to point out that the LCD auto-brightness is REALLY well implemented. Outside it brightens right up, and inside it dims really well. It's fun because you can see it change. Just hit the play button, hold the sensor under a light and then turn the lights off. You can see it dim very smoothly. From a purely "usage" perspective, it's excellent.
Japan-DNA lists eight 5D Mark 2 bodies as available on e-bay (purchase now). After the live.com rebate, the cost would be less than American retail. Does anyone know if this is legit? Thanks.--Frank
Mine is now on order Been reading and reading and to be fair the only thing that would have put me off this camera is if it literally just did not work. Lord knows when it will be in store but they're coming through in dribs and drabs so hopefully not too long.
Should be perfect for my fashion endeavors, don't really need any of the extra features of the 1DS3, it's the IQ I'm after, whilst still retaining the functionality and practicality of a DSLR. Been using my 20D for a full 3 years now so I think it's time to retire the old girl to back up duties (Even though I'm almost certain that camera will keep taking photos FOREVER, the 20D was a pure masterstroke IMO)

Well all the Canons to my best knowledge allowed you to put whatever in the photographer name - that's where I used to put it. Now it has a specific copyright field. Weird thing is it would *not* let me put the copyright symbol in there - maybe it's a Mac thang - I'll try it on my PC later.

What AF? That was all manually focused as far as I'm aware. Just his technique needs to be better. For a LOT of photogs who've never done video, this is a VERY typical result. Still stunning video!
Well, then it must take a lot of practice I would guess to get it right

I could not figure out how to do this with my 20D and I never tried with my 5D (which I no longer have).

Looks like it. Dpreview has a little blurb about it here...
Copyright metadata
Using the supplied EOS Utility software you can define your own custom photographer name and copyright message which is automatically embedded in metadata for JPEG and RAW files
I've tried shooting SRAW and the camera seems to have a deep buffer with that setting. No timings, but the camera feelings considerably faster than the old 5D. I wasn't impressed with the feel of the additional 1fps when shooting raw + jpeg.

I agree. Except for the small LCD screen, it is superior in almost every respect to my 40D, which I have dubbed the noise king!

You find the noise on your 40D inferior to your 20D? Interesting.. I was looking to get a better backup to my coming 5D2 in the form of one of those but perhaps I should just go with a 5D1 instead.
