I'm curious to see how long it takes for one to show up on the B&S. My guess is as soon as the first batch starts shipping someone will post one in the B&S for slightly higher than what they paid for. Then a bunch of folks will jump on that guy and fillet him. Ahhh cheap thrills

It's from Willoughby's, one of the most overpriced stores I've ever been to. I don't know how they've been in business so long. They always try to take advantage of shortages.

24% of customers who view the 5D Mk II buy a Wii Fit. That's amazing.
My ears are burning. My wife, stepson and I are at the table talking about "What are we going to get for Christmas?" while I"m browsing this thread, and we were talking about getting a Wii. Now that's amazing
Back on topic, I rang my dealer (The Camera Exchange) today. Yes Canon Australia's RRP is $4299 but they hadn't set their own price yet, don't know how many they'll be getting (fair enough) and are saying the standard "late November or early December" ETA.
I have put together a collection of links with videos, jpegs and raw on my blog I don't know if they have all been posted here before, but I thought I would share.
Posted prices don't mean much until the merchandise is in stock and available for sale.
You know the old joke about grocery stores across the street from one another. One advertises halibut for $1.25 a pound. Guy walks in. "We're out of halibut." He walks across the street to the other grocery and inquires about halibut. "$2.25 a pound." He asks "Why so much. Across the street, it's $1.25!" "Why don't you buy it across the street then?" "They're out of halibut" "Yes. When we're out of halibut, our price is $1.25 a pound, too!"
Had a chance to play around with 5D MkII at the Canon Plaza in Nagoya. Shame I didn't ask if I could snap some shots as I had my own CF card with me.
Compared to 1DS MkIII while I was at it. Must say my preference is with 5D MkII and it is not (mainly) due to the massive price tag difference.
Shutter was not spongy at all - felt rather good. Color reproduction is great - feels as if you could just do large prints straight off the camera.
Joystick is a bit of a pain, and especially joy-wheel combo is a bit of a change compared to 350D, but it's a matter of getting used to.
Screen is just as great as viewfinder.
Not interested in videos and didn't even try to record one.
A tad heavy, especially sporting 24-105mm but feels very nice to hold in hand.
So far I haven't had a chance to play with a 5D MkI so I can't really compare objectively and after all, this is not a review but a "1st impression"...
My local USA dealer is sponsoring a two hour workshop for the 5D Mark II given by the Canon rep for the area, and it will be on November 21st. I got an invite because I am on the list to get one from that dealer. The dealer is very hopful their first shipment of cameras will be in by then, but can not be sure. I also asked the guy who manages the Canon orders about any price change, and he did not know of any. I conclude that we are indeed getting close, and that it will follow what Canon said to begin with when the camera was announced, which was "$2699" and "November". I continue to anticipate the arrival of my toy, and may even take some photos with it.

Is the event presented by Mike Gurley? More details please, where and when. Thanks,
