p.1 #1 · Using 2 R-Straps

I've seen Tony's 2 r-strap holster design and it does look very nice.

Just wondering if anyone has been using the 2 straps without the sewing/attaching them.

Is it an equivalent to having 2 standard straps around your neck/shoulders?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Dan

You could sling 2 normal straps in a similar fashion to having 2 r-straps, but you lose the ability for the camera to travel up and down the strap freely like the r-strap allows.

the point is to have the cameras move up and down freely.

With 2 standard straps they tend to bind and move with a mind of their own, plus they're not long enough i find.

I will be buying 1 strap very soon for sure, so if someone has experience with 2 i might grab 2.

just bought an R strap today. Figured I can use one camera with the R-Strap and sling the other over my shoulder. Should be comfortable.

That's what I do currently. D300+70-200 on R-Strap and D3+various prime on op-tech strap over my shoulder.

Also our very own Tony Schreiber has thought up of this.

And I just read on some forum somewhere that R-Strap is in the process of designing a 2 camera strap system. Should have been out by now but who knows.

When shooting with two rigs, I have one on an R-Strap and the other on a Wapiti or Up-Strap.

I bought the r-strap two weeks ago and it is great. I mainly use it with a body and 70-200. For me one is enough. If I'm working with two bodies, one is a large tele on a mono pod or a shorter zoom at weddings/events so for that a regular strap works fine.

I will definitely look at the double option when introduced.

i use 2 of them. have for about 3 months 1dMkII on one shoulder, 20D w/70-200mm on other. Works great for me. Pretty comfortable though the straps can slide out of position easily, but so far this is the best option I have found.

Martin,

Do you wear them across the chest (an "x")
Or just slung over the shoulders like you would a standard strap?

I have two of them that I got last week but haven't tried them yet.

According to Melissa from R-strap, two simultaneously should work just fine. I'll try them out tomorrow

Hi,

I have two now as well. slung similar to the way Tony does it. I just interlocked the velcro instead of those button clips
The camera on my right is perfect in landscape and portrait but the camera on the left becomes very awkward in portrait because I am pulling the strap across my face.
How does one overcome this

Cheers

That's odd, I'm wearing both R-straps. The one on the left is simply odd feeling because when I grab the camera I grab it from the left side. There are no left-handed cameras so it will stay like this for a while. The right hand is perfect.

Rumors out there that a new R-strap for two cameras is coming. So they told me

I'm happy with my purchase. Feel like a James Bond.

I got my 2 already.

I've done the Tony S mod with some heavy HEAVY duty velcro and i'm happy so far.

Putting it to the test next weekend so we'll see how it goes.

Haven't done that yet. Let me know how it works for you. Waiting for my sister to get back, she's a fashion designer so she'll get that velcro on like crazy glue. I suck at sowing

With the left hand camera being connected via the base of it, how does it feel when you swing it up and shoot it portrait?

Greetings,

For those that use the R-strap(s), do you use them with the flash attached or only available light type shots? Anyone using one with a bracket as well? seems like that would be to unwieldly. Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Since in most cases i use one camera with a 70-200mm "right shoulder", the "left shoulder" camera would have the flash attached.
1D Mark II and a 70-200mm F2.8 IS weights more than a lens/flash combo.

Shooting portrait is pretty useless with a vertical grip. The base attachment gets in the way so you will have to use the horizontal shutter release. Left camera to me is not a problem. It's the right one that has to be a little lower in order to bring it up to my face properly, but not far enough to hit the ground when i crouch down.

Italo,
I've used 2 heavy duty velcro straps that are super adhesive. I will sew them just for extra security.
Here's a few quick pics of what i've done
