These two are hilarious and oh so true!

Last weekend a ref saw me shooting through the end zone and actually moved out of my way.....I thanked him.

Actually, I take pictures of the refs in action and standing around, etc. Just like the players and put their own gallery images up.

How about when you give the exposure to a mom on the sidelines of the high school footbal game and she has a more expensive camera than you do that she has just bought and she doesn't know what manual mode is..

Or how about being in awe of the human eye's high ISO performance?

"...awe of the human eye..."

No kidding! I'm always so amazed at what we take in so easily that cameras struggle with.

"...leave your ISO set at 3500."

I *always* do this. In afternoon baseball games I'll kick the ISO up so I can shoot high shutter speeds with good DoF to freeze the players. And I always *forget* to change it when the darn sun goes down! "Gee ... that's an awful lot of noise, I wonder why... Oh. Duh."

Something worse then that, younger girls fastpitch and those chants and the one I will now be thinking about all day after this post, "once there was a froggie, sitting on a loggie............."

excuse while I go kill myself now

Nothing is worse than gymnastics music. My sister was one at the above-mentioned levels. I loved watching her perform, but I once forgot my noise-canceling headphones.

That is pure torture.

To make things more interesting, I know the origins of that music and the original songs. They are extremely old and you are looking at roots in USSR.

Same thing with figure skating. They need to come up with a deduction for reusing absolutely old music over and over. One of their current favorites is a theme to a TV series "Bandits in St. Petersburg", for example. That's a modern melody, but how would you like to see a figure skater perform to theme song from "The Sopranos". Although, that could be fun to watch. ;-)

"Woke up this morning, got myself a gun... to shoot the music director"

At the next yearly event (dance) they ask if you still have shot from last year....and still don't buy.

Oh yeah, that's a classic!

when the other parents at the soccer game come up to you with their new camera - usually claiming it is their spouse's - with it set on 'auto everything', or maybe ISO 1600 in full sun, asking for a quick lesson on how to really use all the settings. (they have no clue what aperture, ISO or DOF are, so auto everything is probably the right setting anyhow...)

Actually, I kinda enjoy giving a quick lesson, helping them get to know the non-auto features and all....

Funny enough, I always get asked "where you in the military?". I say "No, but I do fight a war on light and time."

... when your 2 year old son wonders the same thing

... after not shooting for a week, you have a Friday off and just decide to shoot a game to get out of the house

Teens walking by "What is that lady doing? Oh, is that a camera? Hey, will you take a picture of us?"
"can you email that to us?"
Coach "So can you drop those off for our year book?"
"Doesn't the newspaper buy that equipment for you?"

When everyone in the bleachers knows exactly who your kid is because when the whole team is looking at you and clowning around for a group pic the only one turned around is yours!

Or they all watch you as you walk up to the cheer squad (and when my daughter realizes I am going to take a picture) she spins away from me and the crowd howls with laughter at the situation.

+1

Though I was just taking photos of my wife running her first half-marathon.

This is one of the funniest threads I have read in a long time. Absolutely fantastic!
