Last weekend a ref saw me shooting through the end zone and actually moved out of my way.....I thanked him.
You know what, it really is something that's incredible, but I've had A TON of High School refs that have noticed me over time, that almost always try to assist me in getting the shot -- by getting out of the way as well.
I always tell them, and the coaches ... I'm not worried about you guys getting in the way. Working with ESPN, the sound crews, and those stupid ESPN trucks are far worse than you guys.

Working an ESPN televised game is typically on the border of impossible and will definitely make want to sceam, kick, punch, etc.
Always makes your blood pressure rise a bit more when they have precedence over you and typically don't have to pay attention to the dotted line. At least in my experience.

Yep, ESPN/ABC game are horrible. On top of that, the bowl games where EVERYONE wants to be on the sidelines makes it even worse. It's one thing to be blocked from 30-30, or even 25-25 ... but I kid you not, the bowl game last year was 10-10, on both sides. If it wasn't for a 10 minute conversation with Stacey Dales, along with my favorite team playing, I probably would have left at halftime.

...your concentrating on the quarterback headed your way (eye to eye contact) and you hear the crowd yell as you get tackled from behind. But you still get the shot.

when you're so close to the bicycle rider you are taking a photo of, that he will actually hit you but you stay there to get the shot and jump off the jump just as the handlebar zips past your head 1 inch away.

when you are dead tired after a day of football and your knees ache to hell, but the guy next to you with the D3 and 80-200 says don't worry, I'm just a granpa and give away all my stuff for free

This was the funniest thread I have ever read.
...when you are asked "Did you get a shot of that?" and get to reply: "I only shoot players who have paid a booking fee, so no I did not shoot that.. {because I would rather spend time reading FM Sports Corner than processing and posting photos that nobody has any intention of actually buying}
This happened last weekend and his follow up question was "Well how do I book you" I handed him a card knowing full well that he had no intention of actually hiring me and the lady next to him said "Oh! I hired you last year to shoot my son and need to go online to book you for our next game" I got to laugh as I turned and walked back to the field.

1. You have a parent call blaming you because "you" spelled the name wrong on her trading cards........only to find out when you pull the order form that they spelled their own kids name wrong!
2. You get these kind of emails........."I am aggravated and I have a soccer mom that is making my life very uncomfortable. I had my son taken to the picture tent for his photo, then the team photo. I took the flyer home with me to discuss what options I may want with his mother. Little did I realize that the pictures must be bought at location. WHAT THE HELL!!!!! This is the digital age. I have been in many other sporting events, they all post the pictures and let me choose. They give me a year to decide. (I rode in the hotter than hell 100 this summer). Get your head into this century and start capitalizing on the digital advantage."
3. A parent asks you "why can't you sell the whole game on CD for $10 like Hobby Photography does?"
I gotta say the one about the random parent coming up and asking "Did you get a picture of my daughter?" just takes the cake!

Lately the football teams we have been playing (well, PLAYED, since the season is now over) have been emailing me to see if I will cover their games next year.
