yeah haha i just don't get that one at all.
even more amusing is when you have a 17-40 on for wide shots and then they are like "wow with the power in that monster i bet you can even make out the moon" just wrong on so many levels it's not even wrong as they say.
one i wish was true:
"my god that lens is big. wow that looks expensive [300 2.8] what does that cost?! $300 or $400 dollars!!?"

That is not only true for sports photographers
I often get these "What the..." faces whe people ask me "how far" my 300/2.8 zooms and I tell them that it doesn't zoom at all.

Happened to me last night shooting my sister's swim meet. They all look at me, my flash isn't even up, but everybody and their mother (literally) is using flash with their P&Ss.
... when your shutter breaks, you clear the obstruction and keep shooting. Also happened to me last night.

When a parent comes up and asks how many mega pixels does your camera have and you respond 8 and they say " Wow I thought it would be at least a 20 mega pixel, my camera is a 10" as they point to there Sure Shot. I then respond "Well my camera has 8 "PRO" mega pixels” And then there response is "Cool"
