You forgot the video feature. Plus the original poster was complaining about the mkIII issues wait till the MK IV is launched it to will have problems like the mkIII. The mkIII is a sold body got mine a few months ago just started to get out and shoot with it and for my it still is too much of a camera. Although I am looking forward to the better resolution LCD panel and a tad bit better AF system, but if they raise the MP they will also loose on the fps side, thus making the 1dmkIV similar to the 1dsMKIII but with a 1.3x sensor.

"the new canon frapple"
Actually Flickr is from flicker, which is a real word and twitter is a real word, it is the sound birds do.
They use Flickr instead of flicker because they can trademark it, unlike a real word. For example you can trademark Razr, but not Razor and so on.

Not necessarily- with the advancements in technology they can easily boost the throughput rate which can effectively retain the same fps at higher MP.

I don't understand why anyone would want video in a digital camera. All this leads to (IMHO) is a piece of equipment that has a multitude of features that work half-assed. Then everyone can clamor, complain and rant about another $5,000.00 camera that keeps going back and forth to the service department. Then we can all anticipate and wait for the next release to buy the upgraded version that is promised to work better.
Its like cell phones. They keep cramming more and more junk into them and most of them never work, or if they do they are marginal at best. Go to the phone store and watch the line at the service (return) desk.
I want a camera that has good features, that is well thought out and WORKS. Not a camera loaded with 10 cent LCD's, poor focus, missing "camera" features but is loaded with trick novelties that 95% of the people buying them will only talk about but never use.. like video.
I'd buy a Mark 5 II but I don't want video.
I'd buy a 1Ds Mark III but I want a real LCD not one that is purple and fuzzy in a $8,000.00 camera.
I'd buy a G10 but from everything I've read it is another half-assed camera not able to shoot over 200 ISO.
I'll buy a new Mark IV (or whatever) if it isn't loaded with trick junk that has nothing to do with photos.
I'll buy a HD video camera (that are now small enough to fit in your pocket) if I want to shoot video.
I hope the new release, whatever it may be named, has the past issues resolved and shoots great photos. Not a Mark III revised with video that just barely keeps up with the Joneses and doesn't work.
If Canon puts video it in the new Pro body I probably won't buy it. I'll just keep my Mark III and 40D and wait until they go back to making photo camera's for photos and video camera's for video.

In fact, you might not see MK4 because the Japanese think it is cursed. Canon never produced S4 IS but moved directly from S3 IS to S5 IS. Thus we might get a 1D V next, whichever year that happens.
We already have the 4 version. And it is truly cursed, they are right on that score.
1D, 1DMKII, 1DMKIIn, 1DMKIII ~ is that, or is that not, four, 4, cameras? Yes it is and the fourth one is cursed, so even if they bring out a MK4, it's actually the 5 and I'm looking forward to breaking the curse.
The curse works, but just because it's named 4 or 8 it must actually be a 4 0r 8
There's no evidence that the video feature necessitates compromise in other areas of camera quality. The mk3 didn't have video and yet it got slammed for AF problems. Everybody wants different features. The 5D2 is a sell-out. What makes you think Canon will sell as many cameras with a feature set specified by you? Canon tries to give the market what it says it wants, with dollars.
for my personal stuff, I'm shootin' the heck out of my Mk III's and having a blast....not worried about what the Mk(next) will have or when it's coming out. Still love my 5D too. If Canon quit making cameras...I'd still be happy with what I've got.
Mk IV, Mk V etc.....will cross that bridge when I come to it. Shootin's the name of the game.

Maybe that's why the internet is flooded with 5D2 video's. I've seen very few 5D2 video's and most of those are pretty poor (unless produced by a full production company to promote the video feature).
The mk3 didn't have video and yet it got slammed for AF problems.
That was because it had major AF problems and never lived up to the hype Canon put out in their white paper. It had nothing to do with video.
Everybody wants different features. The 5D2 is a sell-out.
As will the new version, whatever it might have inside it. But that doesn't mean it will work.
What makes you think Canon will sell as many cameras with a feature set specified by you?
All I want is a camera that works, not strife with problems out of the box. I guarantee that if they make one it will be a top seller.
Canon tries to give the market what it says it wants, with dollars.
Canon makes cameras that their marketing department says will sell or to keep up with Nikon (and visa-versa), not what we want. There have been many many shooters that have asked Canon to add many good functions, (like a MLU button), to their Pro bodies for years, it's still not there. If Canon released what we wanted they would take a big survey before they introduced a new version.. and the top requests would be added to the new camera. I haven't seen one of those surveys yet.
Electronics are notorious for doing one thing really well or several things mediocre. It's a simple fact of life (unless you pay many times the price of the 5D2). While the 5D2 is popular amongst many, there's a growing number of people I know and of course some that I don't online that see a few major shortcomings with the 5D2. But of course, it's got HD video! So that makes everything else okay?

Again, just my opinion.
As a CPS member I've filled out three such surveys in the last five years. Many of my recommendation ended up in the 580EXII for instance.
I said no to video, but they did not listen to me on that one!

A month ago I was talking with a Canon pro body rep, I asked why the 1d2mkIII only does such a low fps compared to the 1dmkIII. Answer was very simple. Find me a computer that buffers 4gb of fast enough to process 10+fps. Well if there is one out there I doubt it is tiny enough to fit into a hand held DSLR and retain the cost factor. They might be able to increase the MP by 2 or so 15 might be pushing the limit hard.

I understand where you are coming from, but it is all in marketing and what is gonna sell. But on the other hand they might not due to the cost factor. Even the rep I talked to about a month ago was very iffy on answering anything about the mkIV, he just gave a a sneaky smile and we moved on to other conversation.
