Thought I'd already commented, but must have kept the thoughts to myself. Oops!
Simplicity certainly describes the composition. Looks as if you may have sliced it so thin that it's partly transilluminated.
It really emphasizes the internal structure of the kiwi.
I agree that it looks soft but I like it anyway.
Thankyou all for your kind comments,
Jess you hit the nail on the head, it is very finely sliced and lit using a home made lightbox. There is also a little flash played across the top. This is why to some it looks a little soft as there is little to highlight the surface of the fruit. We are all much more used to seeing objects lit from above and expect to see it that way.
In the full size version very fine highlights can be seen but in downsizing the subtlety seems to have been lost. Any more light across the top and you lose the effect of the backlight. Anyway the way to look at this is that it is better than my last effort with this type of shot so that can only be good
Take care all and best of luck with your photos

I like this, they way you cropped the frame is super!
Hi Jouko,
Many thanks glad you like it. I know its not conventional framing but i liked the way it looks like the frame supports the fruit.
Take care

The natural pattern of the Kiwi is nicely displayed. It's a unique shot and stands out well. Great idea.

Hi Chelle,
Many thanks i tried many different fruits but i ended up with the kiwi because it is so beautiful beneath that rather plain skin.
Take care

oopsy, looks like we had the same idea! If I'd seen this before posting I wouldn't have bothered. Which is I guess why it's a good job I don't look at other entries before submitting my own - I'd never post anything!
