p.1 #1 · Top Canadian Photographers?

Can someone name maybe 10-20 top photographers in Canada?
I definitely don't expect my name in there , but it's good to know who are famous in the field. American Photo Magazine only included US photographers as top 10 this year. I do know that Canada has a lot of talent as well.

I'm kind of a big deal.

People know me.

I have many leather bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Red leaf are pretty good. Not my style though.Plus all images are too similar. Post processing is just outstanding though!

Another question is how do you know if you are a top photographer? All the ones from American Photo magazine do workshops. In fact, I can't believe they even have time to shoot weddings with their schedule!!! So, do I have to start charging 10K per wedding to be on top or maybe start doing workshops? Of course, images do matter, but I am sure there are other factors.

Jesh De Rox is the first that comes to my mind.

The top ten list this year was unfortunaletly very sloppy. Put together without any real research. Some definate top players listed but a couple that would not be close to being best in their own area.

I hope they actually do a list based upon some homework for next year. It has potential but in a real top ten list i would expect to see most made up from those outside the U.S.

There are a boat load of amazing Canadian photographers.

Jenn and Stephen Bebb out of Vancouver, BC were named one of the top 10 last year
Chris and Lynn also out of Vancouver, BC
Jesh De Rox - Edmonton, Alberta
Justin Demers - Toronto, Ontario
the team from StillMotion - Mississauga, Ontario
Mark Ridout - Lindsay Ontario
DQ studios - Calgary, Alberta
Richard and Amy with Redleaf studios - Regina, Saskatchewan

But really it is soooo subjective. Like one person said they love Rich and Amy from Redleaf and another person wasn't that big of a fan. I know a boat load of people who Love Jesh and I also know a lot of people who just don't get it. In the end...as long as you are the #1 photographer in the eyes of your clients...that is all that really matters.

Cheers.

Add Jeff Toogood and Bryan Caporicci to that list. Their both relative newcomers, but are both very talented.
