glad to see I have support against the "eosPhun" disease that's been spreading lately. Imho, he should be charged with overabusing a word and jailed in a canon factory just for EOS-Fun and EOS-KICKS. He reminds me of Z Auztin Powers in "Z Goldmember" moviez.

Northlight credits their rumor to Canon Rumor who posted this...CR gave it a credibility rating of 3 out of 5...they also had the magenta (?) 5DII labeled as a "For her" model but didn't name the creator:
"* 21.1 MP 1.0x
* DIGIC IV
* ISO 100-6400 L:50 & H:12800
* 5 FPS
* 3.2" High Resolution Screen (LCD)
* 19 point AF
* HDMI Out
* Liveview
* HD Movie Mode
* Viewfinder: 100% Coverage
* Full weather sealing
* EF Lenses only"
Bear in mind that there are 2 levels of credibility above this rumor ranking.
Those would be nice specs but they can keep the movie mode. I'm not buying a camera with movie mode. I have a P&S with it and I don't use it. I certainly don't want it on a DSLR.

Personally I cannot believe they wouldnt take the 50D, put in bigger prism, bigger mirror and sensor, and grant us all 16.7mp, beautiful ISO6400. usable ISO12500 and 5fps for $3399
That's exactly what they are going to do, IMO.
I even think that the 5DII sensor will be a FF version of the 15mp 50D sensor.
They will definitely put the pro AF in the 5DII as well - or at least the 19-point subset of that AF system (all f2.8 sensitive points but without the non-selectable tracking points of the 1-series).
Hey davewolfs, please check out for me if they have the Pink body version of 5D-MK II for me? my wife would be please to open her purse for me, as I already have the 5D
I don't think those specs would be called 5D MKII. I think it would be called 3D. Unless Canon has something in mind for an even higher-end small camera.
I would be surprised at movie mode being included. I think we would see that first in a lower-end camera. Viewfinder is not going to be 100%.
What I see in that list is a compilation of best wishes. If the list came from knowledge it would include some of the neat new 50D features. I am sure the cool new 50D stuff will be in the 5DII.

I'd be happy with this. 100% VF? - its about freakin' time.
at 2799$ you expect too much! 3.0 LCD LIKE 50D is enough,and an AF sistem with 15 AF POINTS(only 9 cross type),really good "HIGH ISO PERFORMANCE"-BETTER than D3(remember,this was and is still the no1 advantage of the ORIGINAL 5D: IQ).weather sealing just like 50d,microadjustment,4fps,liveview with AF ,100%VF,150.000 shutterlife and that's all, I don't think that it's gonna be better than that!!!! CANON will never put in danger the 1 SERIES!!!!
What it really needs to compete with the D700: PRICE PRICE PRICE. That's all that matters. You sell a FF camera even with the current 5D specs but mark it down to $1500, you will have a real winner.
It's not the feature set that Canon has trouble with - in fact, I will say they can trump Nikon's D3/700 combo with a new 5DMK2 spec wise - however, Canon has a huge problem and that problem is giving consumers features for a low price. It's pure greed factor and it shows:
They can sell a FF camera at $1700 and it will still sell very well. But I will be the first one to tell you they will not and watch how the new 5D successor will be priced HIGHER than the Nikon D700 - I would guesstimate if those above specs are real, the body will sell for ~$3700 - they would sell it for $3999 - to steal the sales from the D3.
I for one do not care for more megapixel. Instead, I am actually very content with what is out on the market (Nikon's D3/700/300). Canon needs help and I'm sure their next FF model will suprise many.
I wouldn't put it past them. 50d has 1/250th flash sync, 1Ds3 has 1/250th sync, 5d has 1/200th sync (1/180th with pocketwizards). BTW: There's NO WAY the new 5d will be $1500.

@elader: And ESOFUN is Nufose backwards. Yes and elader is RED ALE backwards. Does drinking too much of that make you read backwards, or are you Arab anyway? I admit I am a kind of silly German and I have a universal mother in law, who is probably my biggest EOSFAN, since she likes the coolpix of our kids, who I also capture with my EOSes.
BTW dacia driver: there is something wrong with your noise reduction. Somehow the CAPS locks gets stuck all the time.
Back to the topic. So basically some of you expect more than a 1DsmkIII performance with all the latest tech and gimmicks like video added. Just a simpler AF. And you want it at 3000$. It that case it is inevitable the 1D series mkIII will have a shorter life time than previous generations. Oh man, there is nice stuff on the way but some of you are not gonna have EOSfun
"GEneral TSO"-if CANON will put the 3999$ price for 5DMK2-IT SHOULD be a damn good DSLR(equal with D3 on all aspects and with a little more advantage on IQ),BUT this will affect the 1DMK3 and 1DsMK3!!! TOUGH DECISION!!!!!

ANd I'm telling you again,1DMK3 and 1DSMK3 will have a shorter life than the others 1D(s) previous generations!!!
What, you think no one is listening to you? I wonder why? (thanks for the lack of CAPS in this one)
I don't think you need to tell us again; anyone who is in the least aware of what has happened with the MkIII series cameras in combination with the current market conditions could rightly assume that they won't last anywhere near a full 3 year cycle.
