Yes, over a hundred: a dozen or so different units from CPS, maybe fifty different units from colleagues in the sports/PJ field, rental clients who bring their camera to me (I run a rental business - I've been through a few copies of the Mark III), students of my photo courses who own the camera - yeah well over a hundred.

I propose a mutual Canon Suicide Pact: Canon shows us an impressive camera in the next six hours or we all switch to Nikon.

You know it CW, and I know it.....but you"re pushing it uphill trying to convince the less capable, ...or perhaps the more photographically challenged who haven't the skills to identify the magnatude of the problem. ...sure suits Canon to have this level of inexperience waffling on about how wonderfully their mk 111 works.

Thinking about it, any camera with live view already has video. So recording it to card is a firmware change. There's no hardware cost.

Just because you don't notice it, doesn't mean it doesn't have it. I have a friend who only noticed it when he went to the track to photograph race cars. His backup 40D outshined the 1D III 4 to 1 in the number of keepers. All had the same lens.
I noticed it when I shooting with harsh back lighting.
They still do have the issues, but just not as many copies.

that would be sad for the mkiii and hard to believe since my 40D gets about 5x less keepers than my 20D with bright sun and backlighting. but by dark skies the 40D does better.

you still need to get it compressed and make sure the bandwidth to the storage is ok, etc.

Maybe Nikon's answer will be a MF Sensor?

I have tested over a hundred different Mark IIIs from colleagues who say they don't have the problem and I have been able to replicate it for them after a day of shooting.

So you have spent over three years (100 days) testing other people's cameras?

I personally made my decision (D700), after 11 years with Canon -- I really hope they end up delivering for people who are still anticipating the announcement. At the very least, this thread has been quite entertaining .

To commemorate the passing of the full moon without a 5D2 announcement, as I begin to look longlingly (and more seriously) at Nikon's full frame offerings:

the full moon passes
yet no camera appears
empty Canon hype

If Canon doesn't produce something stunning, they're going to be like GM to Toyota! Hello, third place, goodbye pro market share!
