At the price level it will be at, it MUST have a noticeably better AF than the Nikon D700 and slightly better high ISO performance. To be honest, all of the upper end DSLRs now have very very good IQ and the differences will be small. What will make the difference is the glass. There are newer lenses that are coming out and it would be better to spend the money on that for my 5D, rather than its replacement.
If the 5D successor is over $3,000 USD, then I would have to consider the 1DMkIII or wait until the MkIV.

crivera said 21MP & no video, the French side says 24 MP & video.
The French site says 21MP....do you have a problem with your eyes ? Many sites have said video.....I don`t really know as almost no one does....I don`t really care about video....just passing along something I found interesting...........I guess this is how false rumors start
NO mirror lock up or Firefox buttons. When will Canon start listening to it's customers??
There seem to be 2 buttons along each side. They may do the GPS, Direct print, mirror lock up and Firefox. Mirror lock could be on the front like it was on film camers.

If it is 5 and 10 mp in raw mode that would be amazing, but from what Ive heard its going to be 10 and 2
Nope, that makes no sense at all. The "original" sRaw was a 4:1 ratio, but the newer sraw's are a 2:1 and 4:1 ratios. So, at 21MP it is 10 and 5, or at 24MP 12 and 6
The 5D was all about IQ and the ratio of IQ to the dollar. Ranked that way it was a bargin. This is why the camera got the reputation it did. Three years later the camera we will measure the 5DII's IQ against will be the 5D. I would expect the 5DII to follow in the 5D's footsteps. I will be surprised if the 5DII has monsterously fast frame rates, fancy HD video or super wammy-dine auto focus. I'm thinking I'd like to buy a 5DII if that is indeed the Canon philosophy for at least one of the 5D successors.

I heard that they were going to release it at 21 megapixel on the 15th being the official full moon but the sony made them go back to the lab and replace all the sensors with 24 megapixel ones, hence the 17th instead.

Just a reminder that it's a 5D replacement
There is a need to a small body 1 series. But don't blame the 5D II. By definition the 5D does not have all the pro features, but it does have a similar sensor.
The 50D does have upgraded AF, BTW. Many people just seem to count the AF points.

If you click the link I provided and read it ....it says 21 MP.....I don`t know what you are reading but is not what I posted..........and besides it was just something I found and thought was interesting....so Chill..................Peter
I read "il reçoit un capteur 24x36, comme son prédécesseur, mais dépasse la barre des 21 millions de pixels" which translates into: "It receives a 24x36 sensor, like its predecessor, but goes above 21MP"
