Weather sealing DOES have an influence to IQ.. if I have to take care not to get spilled bear on at the concert, I might not be concentrated enough to get _the_ image, if I have to put a plastic bag around my cam to get the snowboarder image, it might be so cumbersome that I can't get _the_ image... etc of course weather sealing is important (in real life shooting) to get an image, if the weather is bad etc!
But it all depends on what and how you shoot. If you shoot studio only, weather sealing is useless.

That is correct. I just came into such a situation only one time till now. It was a concert in a blizzard. I was booked by two bands. I was wet, my camera was dripping and I dryd it up to ten times. That was horrible. But it was working and I just ignored the rain and did my pics. Nothing happend to the camera. It maybe just was luck. So I would LIKE weather sealing. And I would pay 200 € more for it. But that feature is not higher to me than IQ.
And I would not be able or willing to spend an additional 40% to get it.

I think the hiding of hte lower part of the camera is just a wa of hiding a new bolt on grip. If it's got a new battery, it'll have a new grip too.
Why could it not have a new battery and an integrated grip?

Looking at the picture, I'm pretty sure it won't have an integrated grip, but an add-one one (as you mentioned).
From what we can see on today's moon teaser, the bottom of the body just "ends" at a normal height, and probably won't have a built-in grip. If there's a grip on the picture, I think it will be an add-on (and it won't flow nicely with the body lines):

Thats right it happens just once a month and it just happens to be in close proximity to a big holiday and in the month that Canon will announce a new 5D. It also reflects the theme of Canon's advertisement campaign, which I guess you fail to recognize. Pinhead!
You do realize I'm just speculating and this is all in fun. People getting defensive about rumors and predictions is more amusing than this thread.
Jim
I do realize it is all fun...and you are completely correct.
And...I saw the full moon before all of you because I already saw it.

The only thing "semipro" about the 5D is the price, the rest of it is so feature crippled that it might as well be a Rebel.
People keep talking about the improved AF of the 50D because of one photographers brief experience with it. Canon admits themselves that it is the same system as the 40D, so I wouldn't be holding out expecting it to anything other than the same as the 40D. The one to 1.5 stops noise improvement likely puts in the same category as the 5D, which would be great for a cropped sensor.
I am just curious to see if this mythical 5D replacement is a fully featured camera or another model crippled in some way.
Just my 2 cents.
Is Sony willing to show anything other than ISO200 shots? Compare to these 50D shots at various ISOs and then imagine the same sensor technology in FF...

The imo standard semipro price ranges from € 800 to € 1300. Based on the price I would call 5D "high end semi pro" :-).
Comparing it with any Rebel wich one you are talking about? There was never one that had or has now that IQ, that pros shoot with it. And as far I remember the last 3 Rebels still have plastic bodys. I would compare it to Canons semypro range. Your so called crippled features are imo the same the xxD series offered 3 years ago. + a much better IQ and ISO capabilities based on the fantastic sensor and FF.

30Ds AF is excellent. 40Ds is excellent, too. But much faster and more accurate in lower light. If 50Ds AF is (and that is what I read from those "people") is faster again and even more accurate. So what are people crying they want an more "pro" AF asking for?
The 5D AF imo is excellent, too. If the new one is even faster and better in darkness, for me it would be good enough. If I need a 1D MKII AF to do my job or have pleasure, I would go and buy a 1D MK II. I just got an offer for a used one at € 2000.
I would not buy. At that price I would get the fully new state of the art semipro camera (50D) and an excellent 40D backup body. That surely given enhancement in oro AF and framerate is not what I need compared to reolution an ISO IQ I would miss.

Yes. Now after 3 years. That will be overcome within the next 3 days.

I guess it will remein crippled for you. But getting best IQ, excellent high ISO and 16MP (ore even more) at a price beneath 3D (what I think will be) does not look "crippled" to me but worth buying it.
Purchasing a couple of (beautiful) features at lower resolution, ISO capability and IQ at a higher price would make me feel "crippled" myself.
I do not expect a Pro 1Ds MK IV with a mindblowing AF at the price of a semipro camera. If that happens, I would be really surprised. But of course I would be happy, too.
Even than I am sure there will be enough people complaining about missing features or what sony, Nikon, Pentax etc did much better.
