Maybe he read it in his coffee powder?
I guess I will have to ask our friend from Germany for some of that "coffee powder", whatever that is.
It does seem to possess some interesting properties...

There is some funny funny stuff here. I have to post this from elsewhere since it's worth of a laugh.
Recent news has reported that Canon made an offer bid to buy Nikon. An inside source has released a transcript of the taped conversation with Canons Chuck Westfall and Michio Kariya, the President of Nikon:
WESTFALL
There is no escape. Don't make
me destroy you. You do not yet realize your importance. You
have only begun to discover your
IQ resolving power. Join me and I will complete
your camera line up.
With our combined strength,
we can end this destructive
conflict between the brands and bring order to the
camera .
KARIYA
I'll never join you!
WESTFALL
If you only knew the power of the
dark side. Mr Olympus never told
you what happened to your father.
KARIYA
He told me enough! It was you
who killed the 1D Mk III AF...... and my father.
Extrapolating the 1D III sensor (the 5D used the wafer that the 1D II was built from), gives you approximately 16.3mp.
Funnily enough, the 1Ds II has the same size pixels as the 1D III, so the 5D II and 1Ds II should be fairly similar in resolution, if Canon go down this route.
The only difference (16.3mp vs 16.7mp) is down to the sensor size. The 5D has a 35.8mm sensor, and the 1Ds II has a 36mm sensor.
A Full Frame camera based off the 1D III? Yes please. The 1D III IMO has the best IQ of any Canon or Nikon camera (disregarding Fuji's awesome stuff here). Definitely better than the 1Ds, which has too many pixels IMO and IQ suffers for it.

Your friend from germany just did a stupid translation from german into english .
My so mentioned "coffee powder" is nothing else than "drip grind coffee".

Well, maybe Ralph was just making EOSFun....
No (Eosfun). I was told the NDA runs out 12th and after evrybody is allowed to talk about.
Nothing else. Canon themself may decide to offer the news whenever earlier.
I am sure that concerns 5D II (whatever name, I will call it 6D for now).
Now I read about a UK Press conference 18th of september, too. Might that bring the 3D?
It must be something different then offered to press & sales before. If not another conference after NDA run out would not make scense.
I definately think the 5D specs will be motivated by Nikon's current line up rather than protecting the 1 series.
1 series can be upgraded whereas trying to protect what is current simply because it was released recently would be handing the reigns to Nikon and suggesting that their was nothing they could do because they were bound to not upgrade a model in less than 18 months.
Nikon has raised the bar and Canon has an opportunity to kick a major goal.
The 50d was a good indicator, if they kick ass with the 5D2 that is going to set up confidence for future 1 series upgrades.
What they do with the 5D2 is therefore vital at this point in time.
6d and 3d? now i'm confused...
Now i have no clue what to buy this fall... :| for the first time ever i don't know what to choose... because they're not out yet

Yes - and don't forget that the 1 series cameras will be more than a year old when any 5D2 hits the shop shelves. Let's hope Canon thinks the way you do.
I just want a weather sealed 5d with a good and rugged build quality, 100% vf, usable iso 3200-6400, micro af-adjust, spot-metering at af-points and 3-6 fps somewhere. I also want an extended dynamic range and 12-21 mp somewhere :P
