My 50D is in transit from Calumetphoto. They had one shipment come in on Tuesday and are expecting another, larger one on Friday. They're also having a Canon event this weekend. Maybe some of you guys near a brick and mortar store can talk Canon into giving you a sweet deal on one.... Calumet said they'd have specials....
I picked up my 50D from Canoga Camera on Monday. I shot nearly 1,000 images on Monday evening and Tuesday. My observations are as follows:
1. Autofocus - fast & spot on.
2. Exposure - very accurate - under very tricky lighting conditions.
3. Cleaner images than the 40D - colors are great.
4. Noise control appears to be about 1 stop better than 40D.
5. ISO 6,400 and 12,800 display some noise (12,800 has some banding) but are very usable.
6. Out of the camera jpegs are excellent
7. In my hands, it feels just like a 40D.

I wonder how much they paid you to lie? 12800 is usable to you? 12800ISO is completely unusable. Post some pictures. I am 100% right. There is not even a single image online that shows a usable 12800iso on 50D. Even 5DII shots are not usable. Geez man!

Besides that... AF fast and spot on... What kind of remark is that? Please specify... One Shot or AI Servo? Center AF point or outer AF points? With fast erratic moving small subjects or large buildings?
Furthermore, how can the noise be 1 stop better than the 40D, while a number of 40D/50D comparisons show otherwise. How do you reach this conclusion? Please specify... RAW or JPEG? If JEPG, what in-camera settings were used? If RAW, what conversion software was used and with what settings? Can you show pictures to back up your claim?
ISO 12800 usable For a websized thumbnail or a normal sized print?
I ordered the 50D + 18-200 kit from them 2 days ago and it arrived yesterday. So no problems with them.

Has anyone else ordered from Berger Brothers? I just heard of them the other day and heard that they do currently have the 50Ds in stock. Reputable? Shady?
I ordered a 50D from them on Tuesday. It's scheduled to be delivered today. The two concerns I have are, they said they do accept American Express but they prefer not to. Sounded a bit odd to me. I know that in the past American Express has always been great with any disputes I have with online merchants.
Secondly, they told me that they only had the 50D bundle which included the 50D, 18-200mm lens, extra battery, and some other stuff I didn't need. They told me that they could break up the bundle and just sell me the 50D but it would not come in the Canon box. They said that could send the Canon box later. I've bought bundles and kits before and each item as always come in it's own box and they just send it in a larger brown box so this sounded really odd.
Any thoughts?
As I stated, mine is being delivered later today. I'll report back with results of the purchase and some results of IQ from the 50D. I talked with Lisa. She seemed really nice but the verdict will come when I get the camera.

Huh, odd, I paid with AMEX as well but the guy I spoke to (Dan) didn't say a word about it.

This is an official Canon bundle I believe, not something that the camera store just threw together to get more money out of people. So there's an external box that you see in the photo above and inside that box is another box that contains the 50D AND the lens. The extra battery, UV filter and lens hood (all official Canon items) are crammed into the remaining space.

I'm testing it out and about today so will post something tonight hopefully. So far from what little I can tell through the LCD, it's... ok.
OK, like in OK for vacation snapshots, etc? I am looking forward to see some images
