Hey everyone-
These are actually from late June, but I thought I'd post something other than bears
Not quite as dramatic, but oh well. They sure are pretty birds.
Yeah, the eye has been the focus of most dissent, and I agree. It's difficult with the black cap and even blacker eyes. I've tried to lighten them up, but there's just not a lot of detail there. This is the wildlife equivalent of shooting a bride and groom and getting detail in the black tux and not blowing the highlights on the brides dress... and that reminds me why I don't shoot weddings
Dave, I saw Arctic Terns for the first time last year at Tern Lake, close to Moose Pass. They are one of the most graceful birds I've ever seen. Could have watched them all day. Your images are gorgeous and yeah, the eye is really tough. I remember that from my own images. Yours are much better.
Thanks everyone. Much appreciated.
MaggieBee, I've shot at Tern Lake several times, but my best experience has been at Potter's Marsh (where these were taken). The arctic tern (and other birds) are much closer and "easier" to shoot, many times they will hover directly above you. As a side note, I just checked out your website - beautiful images!
