actually I would think he'd stand out cause everything is so dry & beige here. Reality is - - it would seem I'm a good spotter cause I kept finding him without the others even seeing him.
Either way - -I now have a confirmed location to hunt for him to start from. That's all that it takes.

The Blue dragon is almost definitely a male Blue Dasher - I'm not sure about the second. Google "Odanata Identification" and you may find a better resource for your area as many dragonflies seem to be regional.

I've seen BCNH many times at Sepulveda, next door so to speak, but to find them both in the garden..... Huge surprise. To have a GBH walking 10 feet from me was also a bit of a surprise.

This was a visual feast, Lil. That the birds were a joy to see, goes without saying; but I really loved the dragons and the lotus flowers. Simply beautiful! Your first shot reminded me of my beloved Missouri Botanical Gardens (one of my favorite places in the whole world), only your garden is even prettier (hard to imagine). I really enjoyed these.

Hey Lil, isn't that Singh Ray ND filter a kick? I have one, too; it really helps to even-out the exposure between land and sky. Use it a lot for my landscapes. particularly on my travels. Very nicely-done, and glad you had the BCNH and Greenie for a spot o' variety with them purty flowers and dragonflies. Faves are #1 (ND filter used?) , 5 (yep, like the intricated wing shadow there), 7 Greenie, and 8 Dragonfly

you are just too sweet. You mean to say that in the middle of San Fernando Valley - in Van Nuys - there's actually something prettier than in Missouri Really, you must have all the greens in the world. Here it's all dried up, burnt & dead. Anyhow, I'm thrilled you like the shots.

Hi Steve,
yes the Singh Ray filters are great. The ND was actually not used on any of these shots - - But I did use the Warming Polarizer in these. I started with the ND a little later. Next time I'll probably start with the ND. I was the only one using filters & it saved me. Well, one of the guys brackets everything. I need to learn that merging technique. I know how to shoot bracketing, it's how to put the shots together I don't know how....
But I will be using the Graduated ND filters a lot more from now on.
Once I started shooting digital I've found myself not using filters as much. But for this I really feel I should so I'm getting myself back on track with that again.
So, shot # 1 - Warming polarizer so you know Steve.

I want to hunt the Greenie some more & I want more dragons so my plan is for sure to go tomorrow morning. Sunday only day I can get in right now.
Hopefully I'll get some more lotus shots as well. I didn't get all them done the way I wanted to.

Yes, Luigi does seem to have a cousin close to me. Wasn't Dave sweet - - I am so thrilled he's so generous with me.
Nello - - almost no pp'ing on these. They came out of camera looking stellar.
