I just swiched from canon to nikon and after taking a few shots with my d700 I noticed that I have lines in every shot when viewed at 100% crop. I was wondering if anyone is experiencing this problem?
When I received my camera the box of my camera was dented in the corner and wasn't packed well.
The padding was underneath the camera box instead of around the camera box. So I was thinking it was dropped. I already called for an exchange just because this doesn't seem normal.
Here is a picture that I took straight from camera converted to jpeg.
Thanks I just uploaded another pic..I just decided to return it just to be safe because I haven't read this anywhere else.. I love the IQ but when you look close you see lines. I also used another CF card which nikon recommended and it was the same problem.
That looks more like the actual skin of the animal to me as the hair on the top of it doesn't show any "'disoloration". For sure, it is not banding in a strict sense as it doesn't go across the entire image, either horizontal or vertical.
I downloaded the larger file and still couldn't see any banding or similar. I viewed the image on my 30-inch screen and I still failed to see any.... Those of you that clearly see some kind of banding, could you point that out where exactly that it, please?
Look off to the left side of the picture and you could see the lines at 100% crop.. Sorry I don't have a better example I'll try to find another picture under exposed and you could see it clearer.
2nd pic in the sky by the wheel. I think that is banding. But I don't know for sure. I also see a dust spot there... Anyway, horizontal lines on this monitor. I will check on a friend's 24" calibrated display. Best bet is to return it and get another one. Looks like some sales staff played with it and dropped it before selling it to you.
after 10 minutes of looking, I finally see it. On the (goat?) image, look at the left where the metal bars are, you can more clearly see the banding there. On the Sky its in the same position, just alot less visible.
I see it in the sky however it only shows up on a 24 inch LCD, not the 19. Before you panic make sure this isn't caused by the lens or the IS (excuse me VR), some Canon camera's had this issue with a consumer zoom and IS.
Yes, definitely banding on both. Bummer, I'm sure there will be a firmware fix out shortly. Doesnt this happen on just about every new model of camera out there
