Stunning photography Alain. One suggestion if I may regarding your website. It would be nice if your RSS feed displayed the photos rather than just a link to them. Sort of how this (http://wvs.topleftpixel.com/) sites RSS does it.
somename > thanks about the RSS it's a good idea but not my priority now (I do all the HTML/PHP code myself so it is time consuming) - I'll think about it
first, I would like to make the layout better, offer all series in high definition, and offer french and japanese versions ... this will keep my occupied quite some time because the website itself is not a priority
by the way, starting now, the Japan 2006 pictures are also available in high resolution !
Do you find it a challenge to capture particular places? You had some shots from Kasuga Taisha earlier; I know when I lived in Japan I struggled for years to get images that I really liked from that place, even though in fall it can be particularly impressive.
dan9 > yes, it's hard to get a nice picture (great timming is sometimes required, for matsuris or sakura/momiji/snow times etc ...) and at the same time to do something different, personnal. Japan is shot a lot and it's sometimes hard to show your personnal view.

here is a fresh update from today's big Jidai Matsuri

Moving to Japan and not having a job gives you lots of spare time, but limits your finances impacting travelling and equipment purchase. Having a job will improve the finance, but limit your spare time.
I hope once you start working, you won't sleep throughout your weekends just like most Japanese do...
Yes, it's a paradox, I spend even more time searching for a job than learning japanese, and even more than doing photography ...
but if I want to stay here on a longer basis, and become good enought in japanses to go much deeper into the society problems and people's stories, I need a stable job here
too bad I really picked up a bad timing for job search

Alain, I don't think you chose the wrong time. There is no such thing.
if I may quote Juan Carlos Castaneda on this occasion:
A warrior may worry and think before making any decision, but once he makes it, he goes his way, free from worries or thoughts; there will be a million other decisions still awaiting him.
Sorry, it may sound somehow far fetched, but just look ahead and don't worry. We are in the same boat..:-)
rwhsurf > I'm in corporate finance (audit, control, reporting ... not banking/market !), I like my job a lot and it also helps not to mix money and photography ... worked fine so far, I have a good balance
currently I'm in Japan to improve my japanese and I'm looking for a job in order to stay longer (but it's hard now !), and if it works, I'll try to go much deeper into japan society for other kind of images ...
after a few years of that and hoppefully some good images, I plan to make a book from all my work ... I'm in no hurry
Krosavcheg > well, hoppefully I'll find it and more battles will come, some of of them I just wrote about above, I just want to move forward Thanks for your encouragement.
