Some test shots with my "new" Zuiko 55/1.2 @f1.2.

The Zuiko 55/1.2 has a very unique and painterly rendering, but for everyday use, I am not a fan of its bokeh. I can't believe that you can see bokeh edge lines on a shot like those flower closeups. There are few lenses in existence that wouldn't turn that background to cream given the wide aperture and close up nature of the shot. That's the easiest bokeh situation there is.

How are you enjoying the 55mm Bobby? It's been sitting on my locker for a couple of months now!

It is quite a small lens alright, smaller than the Zuiko 24mm ƒ2 I have.

To my eyes, they are all almost equally good .... except the Nikon. Ironically the Nikon at f4.5 has the shallowest DOF! What gives? I think it's because the focus point is different.

Yes you are right different focus point. The 105 was an after thought when I started out comparing the macros. I didn't notice that I focused at a different point until after I was done shooting. I also had to move the tripod back about an inch or two as I was closer than MFD allowed for the UV lens.

Love the shot Anden. I like how the color of the rose goes with the background.

Canon FL55/1.2 @f2 - Fuji Reala 100 taken with Canon AL-1.

Testing to see bokeh artifacts at f2 (I usually shoot at between f2 and f5.6) for environmental portrait distances. The FL55/1.2 has quite strong bright-ring and swirls wide open. Background is about 10 metres away in first shots (much longer for corners of last two). Might get round to f1.4 and f1.7 sometime.

Conclusion: no swirls or bright ring with tiny bit of (acceptable) coma in extreme corners at longer focus distances.

Anyone interested in bokeh comparison between the following (rather different) lenses?

Canon 70-200 f/4 IS
Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 Macro
Sigma 50 f/1.4
Sigma 50-150 f/2.8 I
Minolta Rokkor 58mm f/1.2

I compared them at several apertures and the zooms at minimal and maximum focal length.
