I have got mine on german ebay (lense (in a very good condition, nearly mint) - not that cheap $650, but this 24 1.4 ssc asph is a realy rare thing - fd 24 1.4L is more common - about $500-600 (the same optical design, may be some variations in coating, because i have fd 85 1.2L and fd 85 1.2 ssc asph - some different color cast in coating).

The Index is now 50+ kB and the thread is at 50+ k views and maybe it is time to let go of it? You decide. Maybe I have split feelings about it as I lately have been using a G1... Lol.
Cheers,

No matter the decision you have put a lot of work in this and is a great reerence to see how various lens perform thanks. standing
Using any adapted lens on the G1 yet? Show us some picts. I plan on getting one, I already have the FD adapter on the way.
It's very fun to use the G1 and it shines with alternate lenses. The crop factor is kinda limiting though. OTOH I can carry it all day in a satchel bag without pain. I have a CV28/2 lens on order. I think it will work just fine as a walk around lens.
@Burningheart, Richard, Paul, and anyone else interested...
When I edited the Index I was pretty tired. I'm seldom very clear-headed and then I probably was more of a dimwit than usual... I didn't realize, maybe I still don't really, so many thought so highly about the thread. Since starting it I have got a handful of PMs from people informing me about mistakes I've done when editing the Index and a few encouraging words as well.
Anyway, as it now seems as people like the thread, and to have it as a resource I see no reason to stop it. I'm happy it has turned out that way and knowing it makes it meaningful to continue.
Maintaining the Index isn't that hard really and I have mentioned I usually do it at work when I have some time to spend for myself there...
So, let's keep it rolling then! I'll edit my comment in the Index post.
Thank you for the support, and please post an image every now and then!
I still have many lenses that I'd like to provide blur samples from. I just need time to shoot something beautiful with them all.
Based on Richard's call, I investigated how to do a complete "backup" of a thread such as this, with all images intact, etc. (except for images that have disappeared, of course).
I now have the entire thread on my HD, completely browseable offline, including all images, requisites, etc.
I will do the same to the alt image thread.
Maybe I'll write a script and run it from a cron job to do this on a weekly basis. That way, no matter what happens, we'll always have a backup that can be zipped and distributed to whoever wants it.
Francisco, those are stunning images, love the subtle yet detailed rendering. Looks incredibly realistic and "touchable" if you know what I mean. Very jealous of that lens
