I have for sale a Canon 300 2.8 IS in used condition. The glass at both ends is in excellent shape, but the body has paint missing. I did try to touch up the paint with lens paint, but the color did not match and the touched up areas have a yellow tint to them. I do not have the original lens trunk or manual, but do have a Lowepro lens case to fit the lens.
I bought this lens second hand and most of the paint dings were there when I got it - I have taken very good care of the lens since buying it.
