My foray into off-camera flash with the Maxxum 9 did not go so well. Either I metered wrong or vastly underestimated how much to overexpose this film. Shooting with expired Costco film, maybe 20 years old. Shot at 400 +1EV. The natural light pics from the same roll turned out okay. So maybe I needed to bump the exposure some more if I'm using lights? Going to try again with a fresh roll of film.

What is the box speed for the film? I’ve read that exposure should be increased by one stop per decade. That being said, it’s all dependent on how the film was stored and not all films “age” the same, despite storage conditions. Either way, shooting expired film can be fun because *Forest Gump voice* “Ya never know what you’re gunna get.”

Box speed is 400, so I just bumped EV by 1. The natural light images for the most part turned out fine, just all the OCF ones were really underexposed. I have another 15 rolls or so to shoot, so may try doing EV +2 for the next roll.
Interesting, the red looks desaturated as to how those bikes actually look.
The one 'regular' colour Lomo film I highly recommend is the 800 flavour. I stock up on it whenever I find it on sale (and freeze it), it seems to be made by Fuji. Super colours and grain, I prefer it to Portra 800.
Love all the B&W Lomo films, as well as Metropolis.

The red in this picture is darker than how they look, but not that much darker. They are a deep red color, but not “brooding” dark.
This bike and the bike a page or two back that was parked next to some stairs with the “No Parking” sign are similar in color and tone (same Lomo) because they were shot under shadow. The other two photos with these bikes were taken with Ektar and the reds are much richer in comparison. In one of those Ektar shots, the bike shot up close with basket in view was underexposed slightly. I had to bump up the brightness and play with the highlights to get the exposure back. Doing so made the red really pop! Of those bike shots, the closest color red of those bikes is the Ektar shot with the bike chained up against a post in direct sunlight (long shadow). The bike wasn’t shot under shadow/shade/underexposed and looks closer to the actual color and saturation of red. I believe there was another bike shot with Ektar, in the shade as well and was darker too. I think that was the shot leading up to the bright red basket shot as they were the same randomly parked bike. I must have metered for that shot and not changed my exposure for the basket shot. Oi!
The Lomo 100 grain isn’t as fine as Ektar, but that’s to be expected. I’ll keep an eye out for the Lomo 800! I’ve been searching for the Lomo Purple, but it has been out of stock locally. I don’t recall seeing Lomo 800 before, so I’ll likely have to order a roll or two online. I’m guessing Lomo sells it in both formats? I only have one more roll of Lomo 100 in 135 format. Actually, that’s the only format I’ve shot with for Lomo films. I’ll add their 800 to the Purple in 120 format on my to-buy list.

While I’m waiting for the Lomo 800 to arrive, I was able to pick up some rolls of Lomo Earl Grey 100, Potsdam 100 and Berlin 400 from a Mike’s Camera. The lady at the counter said she really likes the Lomo Berlin 400.
There were some other B&W films as well, Fantôme and Babylon. I didn’t pick them up as they were a bit too slow ISO for my taste (ISO 8 & 13). Looking forward to trying these film out!
