So I get an email yesterday from someone looking for an image of mine for a documentary film. They send a pdf with said image of mine. Hmmmm. Wonder where the hell they got that from. It's never been scanned by me and the negs have never been out of my possession so I'm guessing that I must have sent proof sheets out 27 years ago and someone scanned the proof sheet. Of course the money makes it not worth it at all, but I do want my name associated with this as these two are two of the most important songwriters in Texas history. So I dug this out yesterday and scanned it. Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark. Two of my faves. Will have to play a few of their songs tonight on the gitter. Well, that happens most every night anyway. Plus-X Pan Professional. Mamiya RZ 67. Lens? Who knows and who cares. Maybe a 90mm or maybe a 65mm. Lit with two Norman 400 B's into a 1.7 M Balcar umbrella. I don't remember there being higher powered battery packs back in '92, but maybe there were. It's what I had at the time.
Couple of test shots taken at rear of my property with my new used Nikon F3 and 35-70 AIS, shot on Ektar 100. Since upgrading to Photoshop CC and Mac Catalina, my preferred sharpening application (Photokit Sharpener) no longer works , so I'm experimenting with unsharp mask and smart sharpen...so sorry in advance if these hurt your eyes.
EDIT: Shot on Ektar 100 (Portra was in a different camera)
Ok Huss you win. I still dislike the feel of the Bellami, or at least its shutter, but its so convenient and results are quite good when I get the zone focus right... I think I'll keep this in my bag all the time with some XP2 in it...
Quick Pakon scans from the lab, going to redo some of these...
You're gonna hate me... I have settled on which pocket 35mm camera I like the most now that I have used a bunch.
The winner is... Ricoh FF-1. So good. Excellent handling, single action wind film advance, great lens, great exposures. Actually what this tells me is as long as you stay away from the Minoxes (break just by looking at them) so many of these under the radar cameras are great.
Haha, stop it. Can cross Minox off my list anyway...
Agreed these probably punch above their weight, but then it's not over complicated if you don't need lens mounts etc.
Nice shot.

Used Photopills to plan this sunrise shot not far from my house. Land is slated for development, and developer gave me permission to access the property whenever I want so decided to take advantage. Shot with a Shen-Hao 6x17 with Portra 400, scanned on Epson V800. Took a lot of liberty with luminosity masking to enhance sky color. Still a work in progress.
