I am venturing into 4x5 photography since a few weeks ago. I am also doing the developing myself. Practicing with Black/White first, before trying colour.
I gotta kick myself for not purchasing a 5X7 I had the chance to purchase cheap last year. But then when I look at the price of 5X7 Portra 160NC, I realize its probably a good thing I'm not trying to buy 5X7 film.
I love Reala but have been looking for a 400 speed film to use because the Mamiya 7 lenses are slow... then I can just use a 3x ND if I get caught in direct sun.
I like 400NC but just am not sure I love it as much as the Reala. Is the Fuji 400H comparable to Reala?
400H is probably closer in the blue and green colors to Reala though I haven't shot 400H myself. Its not available in 4X5 which I shoot. 400NC has its strengths in skin tones, but I don't think the sky blues are as clean on the Portra films as their Fuji counterparts. In slide films, I think Kodak's films produce much cleaner sky blues.
One film I wish was available in 120 or larger is Kodak's HD400. I really like this film in 35mm.

TWoK, like these few shots as they are stunning. May I know what film you use?
Velvia for all but the tofu shot, I think that was Superia 400. Click on the shots for more info.
This is an image I've struggled with. I've tried to work on it as a color interpretation of Ansel Adams Aspens, New Mexico. But I haven't quite hit the nail yet. Maybe a fresh scan will get me there. This one has been worked over quite a bit.
4X5 Portra 160VC, Fuji 210 -NW
Original version
Then I thought I wanted a much darker interpretation. But this printed horribly.
Trying to keep the shadows deep to project the aspens forward.
This is a more recent image from this spring. Although we receive most of our precipitation in the spring, this year we've experienced more than typical stormy weather. My home is almost straight down from where this was shot, socked in by freezing fog. Last night we had a mixture of snow, hail, rain, lightning and heavy frost.
4X5 Portra 160VC, Nikon 300M, f32, 15
I also found this pleasing image within the image. Wish I had enough bellows draw for an Nikon 800T.

The 3rd one seems to be the best to my untrained eye. It does make the trees stand out.
