At Land Between The Lakes on the TN/KY border. Leica M5, triX, d-76 1:1, elmar 90/4, pakon scan
The lighting was awful. Major thunderstorms in the area and it was dark even though mid afternoon. I was shooting handheld (thank god for rangefinders with no mirror slap) at maybe 1/20 at f4 (wide open) and still these were under exposed. Should have pushed to 1600 but half the roll had been shot at 400.
A couple of test shots on 4X5 Fuji Provia 100 slide film. Chamonix 045-F1, Caltar 210mm f5.6 at the Bush Library Gardens. Don't think I'll make a habit of slide film. Expensive to buy and expensive to develop and very persnickety(sp) from a metering standpoint. Might save my remaining stock for Yosemite in late October. The aspens and such should be worth it.
Out and about this winter. Minolta Freedom Escort, aka, Leica minilux II. This camera is a plastic fantastic with a super sharp lens. Fuji 200 film I believe, home developed, home scanned.
Found these two images on the same roll of film from 1994. One is a picture of me and the other is my father who died last week at the age of 89 in Monterey. It's odd that as a photographer I have precious few non goofy shots of my father. This one I like though. As for me, I was 37 here and apparently had forgotten to get my hair cut for quite a while. Ha!

My heartfelt condolences to you. I lost my father this past January, so I know what you are probably going through. If you want to chat, please let me know...my door is open.
Thanks guys. Right now it's all legal stuff as there's a fairly complicated estate to deal with. The funny thing is, is that the estate lawyer is an enthusiastic photographer who shoots film exclusively - all with an old Leica R model.
I too am sorry for your loss. It's been a while but still recall the memories & the things he taught me. You had him for some good years I hope.
BTW, if you are down in Monterrey settling things, let me know if you want to meet up.
I can arrange things to get away most times.
Take care
Dan - I'll let you know. I'll likely be making several more trips there this year. The next will be for a memorial at his house and I don't know how long we'll be there.
Peter, sorry for your loss. Yesterday was 12 years since my Dad passed. You never forget and they never stop having an impact on your life. Sounds like he lived a full life. Great shot to remember him by.
Jon, glad to hear your wife's doing better, it's a tough battle but you come out stronger and learning how to enjoy life to its fullest. All the best.
Finally got around to digitizing several rolls with an A7II. The B&W are fine, but the color (Ektar) is giving me fits converting the negative. Just using PS at the moment, tips welcome as nothing I've yet found works. Fairly sure it's the user though...
Anyway, a few from a roll of Delta on a Yashica Mat EM

On your color negatives, do you have a spot of the leader or tail that just has the substrate (orange color)? If you do, using Camera Raw, take a white/color balance of that. Write it down for later. Scan your image, invert it, then input the white/color balance figures. You should be at a very close approximation to "normal" and tweak as usual.
