I was referring to the fact that while T-Max 100 is nominally ISO100, that has always been more than a bit optimistic in my experience. When I shot with Nikons and their center weighted metering systems, I would always set the meter to ISO 50, and then would lean toward the over exposure side if there was any question. In the early days for me shooting an old Nikon F with no meter, I used a Luna Pro with a 7.5 deg. spot attachment and basically expose for a middle gray.
I would also use a modified zone system for exposure and develop - modified in that it's hard to shoot whole rolls according to what's optimum, but at least you can get close. The main thing is that T-Max does not like underexposure at all and you want to get important mid tone and shadow details up a little higher on the curve than you might with Tri-X.
I looked a bit for your shots of you wife you were referring to but didn't have the patience to dig through a ton of posts. If you can find the image and link to it or repost it, that might help. Your scanner should be pretty good for black and white film, being able to pretty much record the entire range of a black and white neg plus having good resolution to boot.

Kenny,
OK, I've located 3 air museums within 2 hours drive! Thanks for the motivation.
BTW, for these indoor shots w/TMAX, how do you meter?
Thanks
Dan
Good to hear you've found some birds to shoot, I look forward to seeing some of them. This particular place is actually closer to a three hour drive but it's worth it IMO.
These are just plain old incident metering, Dan. I will sometimes take average readings and sometimes adjust for what I want to emphasize but mostly just plain old incident readings near my subject and let the rest fall where it may.
I do have a nice Pentax spot meter but I get easily confused when using it and, since I develop with the taco method and developing is the part of film I like the least, I tend to use incident metering so I can get four sheets in my tank and be done with it.

Is that Drury Callahan's F86? He and my father used to be acquaintances when my dad was in the Air Force. I want to say he had been to my home when I was a kid once or twice.
It may well be but I'm not sure. The museum does have an F4 that he flew in the 'Nam and a Caribou also.
While I can't speak in depth or as intelligently about Tmax100 and Tmax developer as Peter , I do love the combination too and have just about decided to standardize on it for my LF shooting.

Hard to believe but after nearly 6 years here, I'm down to my last few months. I've only got a few more photo ops left here. In fact, I've stopped buying film and am working to burn down my stock so that I dont have to pack it for home.
Feel like I am getting the hang of double X with xtol, right as I run out of xtol Off to hc-110 next. Seems the times in the massive dev. chart are waaaay off. This was double x (ea5222) rated at 400, xtol 1:1 7:15m (temp was maybe 74degF). Probably could have gone down to 6:45m.

Jon, this first shot is simply spectacular! I'm going to be living in farm country in the not too distant future and will try to get a shot like this if I can find the right countryside.
