yes and no. If I am out shooting waterfalls, I use a polarizer, foliage none (need a green filter), sky included I use orange, yellow or red depending on what is handy.
A yellow filter is supposed to simulate in black and white a "normal" tonal response, but I've never really wanted my black and whites to look normal. My standard black and white filter is a 25A Red, but sometimes use a Green or Orange, and more rarely a #29 Red as well.
Wow, some very nice stuff posted here. Haven't shot film in a few months.
Just bought a Mamiya Six (NOT 6). This is a 1950s era folder. Couldn't resist.
Hopefully will run a roll through it in a few weeks!
From a fairly recent portrait session with Howard Heitmeyer, a ninety year old guitar player here in L.A. Pulled out the old RZ at the end and shot a few rolls. Glad it still works. I believe it was with the venerable 210 mm 4.5 APO.
Here's a street scene from Piedmont, Ca. shot on a camera I wish I had never sold - a first version Brooks Veriwide with the 47mm Super Angulon - 2-1/4 x 3-5/8 format. Not even a rangefinder, just a distance scale, from what I remember. Film is probably Tri-X. HC-110 is the developer.
