So Astrodave, is that an 18" dob? 24? I've wondered how effective those would be at planetary webcam imaging.
Actually, its a 30" Obsession. One of several at this site! :-)
This one has tracking, so webcam would be possible. Without tracking, it can be done, but you're better off with an SCT on a motorized mount.
Many of these dobs are so (optically) fast, that you can't get enough focal length to do effective planetary...and if you could, holding the planet in the field of view is a real challenge.
Jon, Dave, thanks
It's more about patience & fundamentals for me. It has been a journey to feel confident you didn't screw up the exposure then wait a week for the negs to come back.
I visit Yosemite 3-4 times a year so I've learned the park pretty good. This time of year is best for cusps in the weather. It was raining minutes before this shot and the clouds broke after it stopped.
Shot a roll of kodak400cn c41 process B&W over the holidays on my yashica electro 35 gsn. Have not been satisfied with my scans however not ready to jump aboard a new scanner so purchased vuescan. So far I am pleased. Though the scans take much longer, the end result is a very "flat" scan which appears sharper and easier to manipulate post. Anyways, a lot to share so I will share my favorite subject today, my grandson
missed focus and slow shutter speed but like the "mood" of this one

If you're shooting 35mm, I highly recommend looking into the Pakon F135+ scanner (and yes I know you said you're not ready to change scanners.. but this is worth it). AAAimaging.com has them for sale. Does color, BW400CN and true B&W film. Scans a whole roll in like 3 minutes, very sharp, and easy to configure for further postprocessing. It's not uber high res, but plenty for most situations.
