yowzers!! that velvia is something else. I've got a few rolls but have never used any... looks like I should!
I don't know anything about the Bessa's. Are they still made? How old? Quality? Inquiring minds (and wallets) want to know . And even tough I've never had one, for some reason the 21mm rf has been beckoning...
And while I'm here ...
These are from my first roll through my mamiya 645 (still waiting for someone to buy it)...
80mm 1.9, Arista b/w 100 (freestyle) Developed through walmart, scanned by me...
Thr mamiya is a great backup for the contax!! Like my little bronny ... Use it as the "I don't care if it gets messed up" camera!
Bessa is still in production, made by Cosina (who also happen to make the Zeiss rangefinder which I cannot afford) and are great little cameras! There are three body styles available with different finders for each (they bring up different framelines) and each model comes in A = automatic with aperture priority mode and M = mechanical (works without battery). I want the R4A, which is the automatic model with wide angle framelines (21, 25 (I think), 28, 35 and 50) and I will have the 21 and 28 lenses to start with.
hmmm, I never really thought if it as a backup but I guess that does make sense. The thing is in order to afford the Contax I had to sell my mamiya. Which I didn't but I told my wife I would. Now to explain it would make a good backup...
Thanks for the explanation! Off to google to read up about it...
Zalmy - the answer is "it depends." Slide film's latitude varies somewhat between which one you use. Unlike print film, you definitely do not want to overexpose it. The fun with slide film is how quirky each particular type is. You can also cross-process if you get bored with it or don't want to pay for E-6 chemistry.
Sebboh - great moment you caught with your little one. Is this new Portra 160? The grain looks interesting in your "landscape" shot - more than I expected. I also would enjoy a stitching seminar - you should start a new thread and create a new FM legacy for yourself.
Some more predictable shots - I am looking forward to skipping town for a bit this week.

You mean we're not here to debate grain structure and highlight retention? I'm out...
Ilya, first in nice, second is better and third I like most.
Sebboh, the first is spectacular!!
Holy crap, just noticed this. Thank you Zalmyb. I'v just received another 5 rolls of Tri-X and a couple of Superia 400, currently have a roll of Superia in the camera...but almost regretting it and wish I had put Tri-X in instead -_-. Think I may be switching to B&W film only soon.
