I am not positive why but both those posts, Katie and zalmy, remind me of that last Terrence Malick movie. Great shots all around. Really do like them.
...maybe because it was shot here. Really. And guess what ... I was in it. YEP. Let me find a shot of it...
I'm the bottom left shot. I was Jessica Chastain's stunt belly. I was 8 months pregnant... my now 3 year old kicked Brad Pitt in the head. He said "That was awesome". Really

Katie - Nice, just wondering, why do you use the Bronica when you have the Mamiya 7?
That's a good question. I find it to be really easy to use - and frankly since it's so "replaceable" financially, I don't worry so much about it when we are outside and I have to put it on the ground to go chase a child. I know the format is similar, but when I know I have 15 shots vs. 10, I somehow feel like I have a little more leeway in shot selection. Kinda like shooting 35mm, but better. You know? I don't have that "every shot matters" mentality and can shoot freely. Don't get me wrong, I ADORE the Mamiya 7 - it's rediculously sharp and seems to love color film, I just have this "ease" with the Bronica that I never had with the Hasselblad or yet with the Mamiya. I'm too scared I'm going to mess them up to have them with me all the time, too. I sometimes leave the Bronica in the car just in case.

Thanks for replying. I guess that does make sense. I've just been eyeing the Mamiya 7 for so long that when you choose to use a different camera I scratch my head
While I'm here (here being home with an internet connection. Quite a rarity for me) I figured I'd post some from my first few rolls of film (well since I was 15 at least).
Shot on a long since sold Hassy with a 50mm (a combo I very much miss).
I don't recall what film I was using (I think the b/w was Ilford c-41 and the color was portra 160 nc)
Wow - those are terrific!!! Love 2 and 5 especially!!! Makes me regret selling my 50 as well!!! I did LOVE that lens, but thought it to be redundant with the 65 on the mamiya.
I bet mike (corposant) is glad to see others posting as well. And zaitz too. Sometimes this thread is just them and I feel like I should contribute more.
What cameras do you shoot now that you sold the hassy?
Katie - I like the last flooding shot - sun flares through Mamiya's coating always look great. I am guessing this is Portra?
Zalmy - great mood in the B&Ws, especially #2 and #5. Bronica is (was) kind of an underrated manufacturer. They were once great "alternatives" and then once digital got cheap enough, the used market for film gear dropped enough to put them out of business. Unsurprisingly, since being absorbed by Tamron, Tamron's DSLR lenses have seemingly got a lot more credibility as alternatives to Canon/Nikon. The Zenzanon lenses (not sure who comes up with these names) are pretty good: http://www.tamron-usa.com/bronica/prod/assets/pdf/br_cat.pdf
In other news, a camera company in Denver liquidated their film fridge and I just shot maybe some of the oldest film I have got my hands on. Quite interested in how it turns out.
I bought the Mamiya 645 pro (which I'm now trying to get rid of, unsuccessfully), then I picked up a Contax 645 which I absolutely love. I'm also using a Nikon f4 and a borrowed Mamiya C330, and I just bought a Yashicamat D (f/3.4) for $30...
Mostly I use the Contax and the f4. I don't know why I don't post more, I think I feel outclassed by some here
I can't see the image at work Katie but that sounds awesome, thanks for that info. And I am glad I could notice something like that .
Definitely post more. Post reposts. Cross-post images from other threads. Post old ones you just scanned or old ones you forgot about. I like to see the images and come to this thread every day even if I don't post. I'd love to contribute an 8x10 a day but I am incredibly selective in what I shoot and that is made about 100x worse with 8x10 and even 4x5. My vision is limited! And then when I do make a few photos I am not always happy with them.
I was a portrait photographer (I guess I still am, but don't like the business side of it) so I, too, feel outclassed when it comes to streetsscapes and landscape shots. Nobody wants to see 100 shots of my kids either - so i am working to find my vision as of now. I also seem to be a gear aholic and can't stop researching systems I'd like to have. Will post more. Promise.
Kid shots are cool, I shoot a lot of my kids too, though I rarely bother scanning so don't have much to post. I like to shoot landscape too but it's hard to find the time and inspiration sometimes. I have a couple 4x5s now so have been spending more time with those, but also the mamiyas some too.
It's just great to see people enjoying and using film so much, despite all the nonsense re kodak, etc.
Re mamiya 7: this is turning into the mamiya 7 enabling/love thread. :-)
