Thanks for the comment. I have used both, and I think they are different. I've seen Kentmere 400 pushed to 1600 with good results, but I have only pushed one roll to 800 and it came out fine. I prefer UXF for a couple reasons. The price, and the flattened contrast with Rodinal, HC-110, and even Xtol - the later seems to give me the graduated tonal range I have been looking for. The only reason I push it is to get my shutter speed up higher to compensate for decaying hand-holding ability, For drama (a film noir look) I like Eastman 5222-XX. I will say that I haven't found a single film I didn't like - it's like the cereal isle at the grocery store - so many good choices.
