1st is 8x10! The Xenotar is maybe 75 years old and has a similar rendering.

one can tell because the oof discs are slightly larger on the 1st and since 150/2.8 would be equivalent to 300/5.6, the 300mm f4.5 should be the one with a bit more background blur.

But they're so similar I wouldn't be able to tell without the direct side-by-side comparison..

Isn't 8x10 more about the quality though? I would imagine you get significantly more resolution, though not sure with these very old lenses..

Would be interesting how a 35mm image shot on a 50mm f0.95 / f1.0 compares. DOF should be similar to the 150mm f2.8.

Much appreciated, @Cloud75@! Yes, I'm the climber. The most painful part was running down in my climbing shoes so that I could position myself in a relatively static position before the self-timer went off.

If you haven't already ordered, I got my filters from B&H. They're made by Tiffen, relatively cheap, and available in several different circular sizes. A few of my lenses already use 52mm filter thread, so that's what I ordered:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/54324-REG/Tiffen_5247_52mm_Blue_47_Glass.html

To account for the filter factors, I take an incident meter reading and add +3 stops, +2 stops, and +2 stops for R/G/B, respectively. It's not exact since

Awesome. Already ordered from filterfind.net, along with some more stuff I was after. They're great, an excellent rec from @madNbad

Yes, the extra compression of the longer lens on 8x10 is the primary difference in this particular comparison. It also shows that stopping down the lens on both at least a little is good. Neither are very sharp wide open. The Heliar for example, I often shoot at f/5.6 for the wide open look but with some added sharpness. The Zeiss 135 f/3.5 however, is sharp wide open.

I still shoot 35mm, but lately have been more interested in black and white, of which I have none in 35mm. I do however have a ton of 200T. Here are some recent shots with 200T converted to B&W. It's 10x the work though of just shooting and especially developing B&W. Any recommendations for a cheap B&W film?

Those look great @lifeandmylens 👍

You shoot large format but like to save a few bucks per 36exp roll now? 🙃
Seriously though just get the film you like the look of, it's worth it.

Rolleiflex, old Superia 400.

Just a regular dood, minding his own business, who was amenable to me taking his pic.

Plus Kentmere 200 and 100, Arista Ultra 100 and 200 for "cheap" - 5222-XX for film noir looks is a bit more, but my latest is UXF 400 @ 800, seems to be taking over my B&W world.

It's been a while since I posted any new photos. Went out with the M4-2 and the last of the HP-5 mostly to just take some pictures.
It's been so long since I developed any film, I almost misjudged the time.

Arista films are excellent, but IMO their actual ISO ratings are half box speed!

This is part of the recently installed Oregon Revolutionary War Memorial. It's dedicated to the only known person who fought in the Revolutionary War and is buried in Oregon.

I grew up eighteen miles from where Washington Crossed the Delaware and am old enough to have taken school trips to Independence Hall when the Liberty Bell was available for people to touch. Considering the Corps of Discovery didn't arrive in the northwest until twenty one years after the end of yje Revolution, it's a pretty thin connection. It is a nice memorial.
