I'm at work do not have the camera with me.
But I remember the lens extend once I turned on the camera, isn't it ? If the covers didn't fully open, the lens should not be able extend ?
2/3 of the roll have the same issue, the rest of them have at the corners.
Anyway , I will check it out later tonight.

The lens extension is independent of the covers opening. They may be sticky - easy to check just look to see if they fully open when you turn the camera on. If they don't fully open you can assist using a finger nail.
