Same as above, but with mom in the picture. Any recs for 21mm & 50mm lenses on the F3?
Here are my thoughts on Nikkor 50mm Lenses:
The Nikkor 50 f/1.8 ai-s (pancake) - I think it's nice enough - small, sharp, low distrotion. As pointed out, @dourbalistar is the master of this lens.

Nikon FM2n, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 ai-s pancake, Eastman-5222, Rodinal 1:50.
Nikkor 50mm f/1.8g - I use it on my F6. Given the price, it's a very nice lens. Sharp with nice-ish/modern bokeh.

I also have two versions of the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 (one pre-ai, one af-d). There is a reason that this was the standard 50mm for Nikons. Both are excellent.

The Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 is multi-character optic. Dreamy wide open with soap bubble bokeh.

And crazy sharp with smooth bokeh stopped down to f/2:

Ultimately, I think I like the 55mm f/3.5 the most, though, as Huss pointed out, not particularly useful indoors/handheld. I have two of them - an early version with compensating diaphragm and one of the transition models with diamond pattern grip. Both are single coated. They are high-resolving power lenses with medium global contrast and high-micro-contrast

And they can focus really close:

Oh, also, the 45mm f/2.8p is cool little lens - a fun modern-made Tessar (though the diaphragm is in the same spot it's at on an Elmar). It's a little on the fiddly side for me. I wish it were just a little bit bigger.
