I had high hopes for the Canon Snappy. On paper, it would have been the perfect camera for the Color One Picture Project. Fixed 5.6 aperture, a single speed of 1/125th, a wide angle lens and best of all, a flash that could be turned on or off with the press of an easily accessible pair of buttons. And, I got 39 exposures on a roll with nice even spacing between the frames. Plus it was powered by a pair of AA batteries.
The reality was less, not a lot less but enough to knock it out of the running.
The lens cover need to be fully open to power the camera. Perhaps when they were new, the cover would lock in place. Today, any bump dislodges the cover and shuts down the camera. Trying to hold the cover open often introduces the tip of the index finger into the photo. Also, it tends to over expose about a stop with or without the flash. Finally, the lens offers a nice smeary glow with little sharpness. I gave it to the guys at the shop when I picked up my film. Here's a few images:
