Finally, my last roll of NEW Portra 160 (expired in 2018). I bought 20 rolls of various expired 120/220 film from a friend a couple years ago. Some of it has been fine. Some of it...less so. The three rolls of NEW Portra 160 all had some kind of weird damage to the emulsion that creates this mottled look (visible in the sky). Oh well...

The 'problem' I have with half frame is that it does not save me money. Because I look at these cameras as ways of creating images unique to them. Otherwise it is just a regular 35mm image but with half the resolution.
And who are we kidding, we are not into film photography if the idea is to save money!
Plus film IS cheap - just plug into a inflation calculator whatever you bought in 1995 and see how much it would be today.
Stoopid $500 gave them all away to influencers so no-one can actually buy one Pentax 17...
