That is the biggest thing. If it is stored cool/appropriately you pretty much don't need to do anything.
That big batch of 20+ year old film I have been shooting was 'stored' in a hot environment, and at minimum I need to give +1 if it is ISO 100, +2 for Tmax 400, +3 for TriX 400. Figured out by trial and error.
