Thanks for your kind words, Shawn! I appreciate it. I used to find shooting film a bit of a hassle, but it's turned out to be a lot of fun. I enjoy the process, knowing I only have 24 or 36 shots per roll, and I aim for shooting in good lighting with interesting subjects to me. Surprisingly, developing the film has become enjoyable, and it keeps the cost of this hobby low – I'm now calculating around $0.25 per picture (Fujifilm Color 200 film at $6 per roll + chemicals which last for 24 rolls). I also like having control over the developing and scanning process instead of relying on a lab. NLP helps a lot and makes things so easy in post. I really enjoy transforming the negatives into an actual photo. It's pure joy, and I'm glad I started thiss adventure. You and many others were an inspiration to me....Show more →
That's awesome, glad to hear you're enjoying it. You sure got your cost per frame down! I'd love to know your exact development process one day as I'd like to try it.

I do not have the 50 1.4 G, but have the 50 1.4D, 50 1.8G, 35 f2D and all those are great.
35 f2 D:
First test roll came back with the 35 f2, you were right. Much better. Will plan to solely use this lens with the nikon. It's more fun to use a Leica, but when I want to just have a film point and shoot the n80 is great. N80 + Gold 200 + 35 f2.
When I take photos at concerts I'm usually shooting digital because the lighting is so poor, but last week I decided to bring my Canon P and load it with Delta P3200 (at EI 3200) to see if I could get anything. Surprisingly I got a lot of usable shots, including this one:

I'm planning on starting a thread on this. We all should try it.

I hate to say this but I think there is something wrong with your camera. Those pics still look OOF to me.
You could try to blow out the AF sensor - it is at the base of the mirror box. Take the lens off, put camera in manual mode and Bulb setting. Hold open the shutter by keeping the shutter button pressed. Blow out the sensor with a blower brush if you can.
Do not touch the mirror! Or let the mirror come down onto your brush! You could use a locking cable release.
p.s. if they are not, and it is my tired eyes, I apologize in advance!

These are much better than the other two lenses at least! Every picture on the roll was at least mostly in focus. Honestly I think it's my error though. It only has a few AF points. So I focus by half pressing, then recompose. I think something is happening between achieving focus and taking the picture. Maybe it's refocusing, or back/front focusing. One of the reasons I like manual focus!
I have a f100 too (don't ask) that I shot a roll with the 35 f2 also. Will have those scans tomorrow. Will help show if it's the camera or not.

Meanwhile, here's manual focus at f/1.4. M3 + 50 lux. ...Show more →
The MP is definitely more satisfying to use!
I shot these a week or so ago with my N80 and 35f2D, on 35 yr old film rated at ISO 50 and they are sharp, so that's my expectation.
And the N80 w 50 1.8G:
Basically all I did was point and shoot. Zero skill on my end.
