p.1 #1 · Mpix.com ICC Profiles

Sorry if this is a bit OT, there was an earlier discussion about Mpix. I emailed Mpix and they sent my their ICC profiles for their 2 papers.

I uploaded them to my server if anyone is interested.

Interesting . ..

I didn't think Mpix had any profiles for public use. Nice find!

I know...I tried to get them from the tech support people (who even seem to work on Sundays) but they said that they didn't exist.

Great find!

I just emailed them, and they sent back the 2 files. Maybe I just got lucky.

When I try to load the profiles into my PS image, I don't see which profile is from Mpix. I see one with MPIX in the title, so I'm guessing that one is the metallic paper.

Is the one that says "eRGB" the e surface one?

Thanks again!!!!

Rob

Metallic is:
MpixTheta#1_Supra_Endura_09_26_03.icc

And E-surface is:
RP30_170E2_09_17_03.icc

Don't ask me where they came up with these names!

Couldn't you rename those profiles to something more intelligible/easy to remember instead of the default profile names? (probably a newbie question, I apologize).

Well, the files have nice names when you download them...(e-surface and metallic) but when the appear in photoshop, they are different. It doesn't matter if you rename them or not. There must be text imbedded in the file that photoshop reads.

I'm not sure how to rename them, but I found the profile names by checking the properties of each ICC file.

So how exactly should these profiles be used? Is that the proof profiling? I haven't dont anything except send them off to my ICC managed printer. I would like to send some pics to MPix for larger and nicer prints.

Any help appreciated.

Yes.

An ICC profile is sort of like a generic text file.

Happy ICC'ing,

A quick search reveals that these are Kodak papers they're using, namely Kodak Supra Endura and Kodak RP30 papers - then the date the profile was made.

I would have hoped they'd keep profiles updated, but if the output is as good as everyone says, who cares?
