Took a family vacation to Nevada this past week for my uncle's wedding in Carson City, where we stayed in a hotel. On Sunday and Monday we went out to Tahoe, the first day to walk around Squaw Valley and on Monday to ski at Alpine Meadows. I took a bunch of "snapshots" and here are several that came out well. One advantage of having my A70 is that I was able to pop it in my coat pocket and ski all day with it until my skills had progressed enough to go to the top of the mountain where I was presented with a magnificent view. Unfortunately, I was never able to shoot in very good light, Tahoe was too far of a drive to get to early in the morning and it wasn't condusive to the rest of my family to go out that early or stay late in the evening (I'm only 16).
Anyway this was a lot of fun and I was sad to leave the mountains to come home to Nebraska (where it is much colder), but I'm still glad to be home. Anyway, enough yapping, here are the pictures.
EDIT: Also, I would like to get some prints of these but all of them have a smudge from my lens (I forgot about it before the trip and didn't attempt to clean it). In all of these it was either not visible because of trees or I cropped it out, but could anyone give me some tips (or perhaps do for me) the removal of the smudge, because it is very noticeable at high resolution.
I like the 5th shot. The light gives it a nice flow. You should learn to use the "clone tool" and the "healing brush". A lot of times, smudges in a sky can be fixed with the healing brush. If a smudge is in a detail area, you need to use the clone tool and maybe clean up with the healing brush. Your smudge might also be dirt on the sensor.
