Has anyone got the new Flipside 200 or 300 bag? I am wondering which one I should get, especially because of size and comfort. I want to be able to fit the 30D + Grip + 70-200 f/4L IS and the 17-40 f/4L and a 50 f/1.4 + Batteries and cables.
I have only seen the 200 on a back of a person but I wonder how the 300 would be. I am considering using it while biking and the features of it appeal to me, but I wonder if it will all fit.
If someone could share their experience and maybe show a couple of pictures.
i have never used or even seen the 200 but i think you should probably go for the 300. thats a little less stuff than i carry in the 300 but a little extra room isnt a bad thing either. i think the 30d with grip would be too tight in the 200. the 300 is still small and compact compared to my other bags.
I have the flipside 300. One thing I don't like/understand though. If you have it configured to hold the camera body with say the 70-200 mounted and then a couple of smaller lenses like 12-24 and 24-70 on the side, if you switch to one of the smaller lenses and decide to stop taking pics for a little while (and put the body/lens) back into the flipside, you pretty much have to put the 70-200 back on the dslr or there's nowhere to put it. I'm probably not doing the best job of explaining it but I think you get the idea.
I'm tempted to just use it with my 200 f2 mounted on the D300 and maybe keep a few accessories like a tc and flash off to the side.
Thanks guys for the comments. I decided to go with the 300, will have so see how things fit. I will probably have it modified so that the 70-200 is the one I have on normally, I think for myself it is a good grab and shoot lens.
I had read this thread but it didn't address the requirements I have. I have been looking at pictures of the bag with various gear in it, both the 200 and the 300. Most comments made regarding this bag is that it doesn't fit big lenses such as the 300 f/2.8 or a 1D body. When I get the bag I will take a look at it and if things don't fit or I think I need more room I'll probably send it back.
Yeah, I think the comments you got here fit your gear a little better. I was mostly worried about the 1 series comments for myself. I just picked up a Boda bag and I am very impressed with the quality. It seems to be a smaller bag than the 300 but it was a perfect fit for when I am riding the bike.
I would love to see some shots of the bag with your gear when you get it! (New bags make me about as happy as a new lens )

hehe... I think all new gear bring a smile upon one's face. =) Will see if I can share a picture or two when it gets here.
This is the bag with the gear that I wanted to have in it. It is a really tight fit for everything and ends up being quite heavy, can't really understand how they figure the strap system should work as well as it should. It is really a tiny bag and not much space for anything.
I have the 30D with Grip + 70-200 f/4L (hood reversed) + 17-40 f/4 (hood reversed) + 50 f/1.4
Also in there, fiber cloth, air pump, couple of batteries, cables, charger, 2.5" portable HD, shutter release cable and a card reader + memory cards. I think this bag is not made for people my size (6 foot + 220 lb). =) I am thinking if I can work with it as it is for what I want, or if I should find something different.
Have you worked with different configurations of the padding/inserts? It looks like you have some wasted space to the right of the body (the side the lenses are on). I know anytime I get a new bag with the inserts, it takes me several tries to get it just right.
Just wondering about the depth of the bag - do you feel it is tall (deep) enough to hold the 30D with grip? Thanks!

The padding isn't as configurable as I thought it would be, at least not if I want it to support my camera. Kind of disappointed in that sense. The side paddings are different sizes and are only able be inserted in one way. May be able to configure it to my liking if I have the 17-40 on camera and the 70-200 on the side. Gonna try it again and see if it works.
The depth is good for the 30D + grip. Actually glad I got the 300 rather then the 200 because the 300 is tiny so I wonder what the 200 would fit.

Now I am happy I didn't read this first. I got my 300 today and love it, looks good, feels good, my 40D with my 100-400 is a perfect fit. There will be enough room I think for my new 24-70 I get tomorrow not sure if the 70-200 2.8 IS will store next to the camera lens storage but I will find out. Overall I am very happy

Note that you can remove that little zipper pouch at the top of the bag. Taking that out I can fit my 40D+300/2.8IS+2x TC in the bag. The 300/2.8's hood eats up enough width that I can only fit narrow lenses alongside it.
I agree that the bag holds less than you'd expect it to. Another inch width would be very welcome in this bag. As it is, I use it when I need to haul my 300/2.8 long distances, but otherwise I prefer to use other bags. I'm just not a big fan of backpacks, because they're so difficult to load in the field.
I just returned mine and changed it for the Lowepro Factor Notebook case, have a bigger need for it. Will have to re-adjust my StealthReporter 200AW and find some more space to fit everything.
This week, I have been carrying: 70-200 f4IS, 85L, 40D (no grip) with 24-105mm attached, 77mm 500D in case, a set of kenko extension tubes, Panasonci LZ8, and msc small items..... All of this in my Boda bag!
I say this because I was ready to buy the Flipside 300 but at the last minute I saw the Boda and tried it. I am amazed at what will fit in the boda.
