The last outing wasn't very productive, but somehow the park was full with blackbirds this time! I got a few keepers after all. Same ol' combo on MF:
XT+70-300mm IS+ Kenko Tc. all shots ISO 400.
1.My favourite of the day (female blackbird) http://www.pbase.com/nellotodica/image/94888247/original.jpg
Down and dirty Nello! I like the last one the best. The first one would be better if you could have gotten her to give you a nice look. Maybe whisper something nice, as Socrate what to say, he seems to know the trick.
Pretty images, beautiful backgrounds.
Four is my fav. Looks like it could usher in the winter holiday season. I like the angles, and how the berry and beak balance the image.
Scott
Maggie it does! I watched him diggin' out the worm but couldn't get a decent shot of him because he was moving around which is tough for my MF combo. when he stopped on the branch for a sec. I managed to get a few.
Thx for stopping by or a comment! MaggieBee wrote:
Nello, the worm in #3 looks more like a body piercing, or I should say a bill piercing
The last two are especially nice. Good on ya
I wish I knew what to whisper Tim still waiting a tip from Socrate
Although I see many others prefer last 2 shots, I still think #1 is my best blackbird so far Tim Kuhn wrote:

Nello, my favorite is the first one. #4 and 5 looks bit too much sharpened to my taste. Black birds are always difficult to photograph and you have done well to bring out the details.

1st of all: sorry everyone for late replies. I'm moving all my account / photos from 1 server to another! that's a lot of work..hundreds of shots to be saved, framed, resize and reload
Scott you have a good eye for comp.! I've never thought about the berry until you mentioned it Yes they do kinda' balance the photo in simmetry!
Thx for the comment! sbeme wrote:

Teddy, Harsha...glad you enjoyed them!
Jude, finally someone likes #1 as favourite on #4 and #5 I did some selective sharpening so I guess I overdone them a bit Jude Perera wrote:

Chad they're boring coloured birds but very interesting to observe in real-life! They burst with energy and always on the look out for somethin' 72chevelle454 wrote:

Herb the bg in #1 is as good as it gets w a f8 wide open combo Gotta have the subject close enough and the bg really far! the yellow bg was a patch of land filled w yellow flowers Herb Houghton wrote:
Very nice work Nello. The background in #1 is nice and creamy. #4 and 5 are my picks.

Thank you for the compliment Chris! yes sometimes I get nice results out of it, but don't know how much i can hold on to it
I got the upgrade itch/virus going on now Chris Willis wrote:
Nello, you are continuing to get good results from that combo! #4 and #5 are my favorites from this set, keep up the good work!

Nello,
first one is nice, but I love # 4 & 5
Lil - just trying to catch up since the show....
Glad you liked them Socrate! I got a tune that keeps coming back in my mind, maybe I can whisper this to them:
"Babbo, che eri un gran' cacciatore
di quaglie e di fagiani
caccia via queste mosche
che non mi fanno dormire
che mi fanno arrabbiare
com'è profondo il mare
com'è profondo il mare"
Sounds pretty good to me!

Excellent job with these birds, Nello. # 4, and 5 are my favorites. Looks like you're learning how to whisper sweet nothing in the birds ear.
Socrate
The lighting is very good in these. A couple of the first few have the bird turning away, otherwise I'd be choosing #1 as favourite. #4 is quite good and #5 is your best one here, IMHO.
