I've been traveling quite a bit lately and just returned from a week in Japan followed by two weeks in India. I went to Japan to see the Snow Monkeys (Japanese Macaques) near Nagano. The Winter Olympics were held some years ago not far from here.
It was quite a trek to reach the location but well worth it. The snow monkeys are wonderful to observe with their human-like expressions, antics, and emotional displays.
I used my trusty 70-200 f/4 with the Mark III for almost all the shots and it turned out to be the perfect lens for the task. The first day I was there it was snowing hard so it made the hike in harder and the photography more challenging but with camera help up quite well in the extreme conditions.
Over the next couple of weeks I'll be posting shots from here and from India. Hope you enjoy them!

I tried to delete my reply to your post out from between image 5 and 6. It won't let me. My apologies as I thought you just had the 3 images.
Now after seeing all of them (I hope ) this is a very impressive set of photos.
2 , 3 , and 4 are absolutely priceless and the expressions are wonderful. Excellent job and WOW you get the two thumbs up for today!!
Great shots. Love the second!
These are the oldest looking babies I have ever seen. Also, I think they went a bit heavy on the white eyeliner thing, but what do I know.
You must have really enjoyed yourself. Great subject.

Thanks. It was really amazing. It took three train rides and two bus rides - then a one hour hike ('cause I carried too much stuff in my backpack) uphill on ice in a snowstorm. This was a birthday gift to myself (with my wife's blessings) as I wanted to prove that at 58, and following three knee surgeries, I could do it. And, it was worth every sore joint I had at the end of the trip!
