Every now and then we're blessed when something unusualy good happens in our lives, this happens to be one of those occasions.
I captured this peacock flying out of a large pine tree where he was roosting for the night, I saw him coming out of the corner of my eye, I swung my camera with my 500 around hand held and captured this shot.

OK, you have startled me! I didn't think these guys flew, and wow, that is a whole lotta bird and color to be airborn. I can't imagine what went through your mind when you swung and saw this.
That neck looks like something off the Concord jet. Nice reaction, that is beautiful and you did good to get it.
Wow! "Now there's something you don't see every day Chauncey!" That's a great image. Clear, sharp, amazing saturation, and definitely something out of the ordinary. Thanks for posting this.
Add one more to the list of didn't know they could fly. If I saw that coming out of the corner of my eye I may have run, not taken the picture. Nice job.
Steve, the Gods have smiled upon you. You are right, this is a rare and beautiful sight. I'm just glad that you were there, were quick enough of hand and reflex, and had the big lens with you in order to capture this magnificent spectacle. Well done, and may the God's smile upon you some more!
Steve, this is a super shot, and a super-lucky one to get! Whenever something like this happens to me, I always remind myself of one of my favorite sayings: "Good fortune favors those who lead a virtuous life." Then I try to figure out an alternate explanation for my own good fortune ...
Thanks for posting this!

Handheld no less!! Wonderful capture -and a whole lot of bird. Kinda looks like someone kicked the king off the throne, and all of a sudden he has to fly.
