CA at large apertures is normal for this lens, as it is with most fast primes.
Mine is sharp wide open, but it is very difficult to use wide open because the DOF is so small.
My experience too with both of these and other fast primes, 1.2 is tough to use with the shallow DOF, but as many great shots on this thread show, you certainly can shoot uber sharp photos at 1.2!
I just got mine and these are my first real shots with it. They are all at 1.2 except the first at 1.4. It can be tough to nail the focus at 1.2 but I didnt find that I lost any more images than when using my 35L or 135L wide open. I didnt even set out to leave it wide open the whole time I think I was just still in awe of being able to go to 1.2 so I didnt touch it.
Ok, I looked through all these! And WOW! To me photography is like a window to another world...I come from a very small town and don't really get out of it to much, but when I see these...I just stop and say "whoa"...yall ever get like that?
WHY did someone have to dig this thread up! Just when I thought I was semi - over my lust for this lens and I took it out of my shopping cart all of the sudden I find this thread and its back in my shopping cart waiting to be bought. I HATE YOU GUYS :P
Ah Bobby, Everybody aint't a pro or artist you know....people just doing their thing the best they can and having fun sharing.........bottom line they're out taking pictures and practicing their hobby of photography......truth is nobody cares weather you like the pictures or not. Go back to the hole you crawled out of.
