This lens has been in my bag longer than any other single piece of equipment. I've gone through countless copies of various lenses, bodies, etc . . . but I've never sold this one. Its my "couldn't live without it" lens.
I'm pretty happy with my zooms and couple of primes. However, I go take a lot of portraiture - often with the 70-200 and would probably get a LOT of use out of the 85mm 1.2.

There is something about it to put it mildly.
I had the 70-200/2.8 IS previously for about 8-9months and only used it a handful of times. so I ended up selling it and bought the 85L. couldnt be happier. ive use the 85L plenty of times, specially for portraits and also just walking around with it. Because of this lens, i ended up selling 40D for 5D. its great on a 40D, but even better on a 5D.
The 85 is my magic lens - it's hard to take bad shots with it, assuming you focus properly. Even quick snapshots turn out great. I basically stopped post processing once I started using the 85L. Here's a quick shot from last night.
