I would recommend dulling down the reflection just a tad.

The clouds look like ghostly figures zipping by overhead. Combined with the rock that looks like a witch's hat, it makes for a very interesting shot. Nice Job.

Really lovely image Mark and great light, I will also give a vote for a "slight" darkening of the reflection.

Yeah, I finally saw the light! Whoops I mean the moon! Man, that thing is hard to spot... But yeah, I am sure in a larger print it would be more pronounced...

Whew! And I thought Waldo was hard to find...

Tim, the truth is that I spent $40,000 on credit to spend almost 6 months on the road with my wife, shooting 24-7, from Yosemite to the Canadian Rockies and back. When you shoot 24-7 for a half year straight without taking any time off, eventually, once in a while, you find yourself at just the right place at the right time! I took about 30,000 images, and only about 100 are up to the quality standard I am after.

So don't be down on yourself! I think if you went out like that, you too would have great imagery to share.

Kind regards

Mark

That is given, but in your case there are many who could have travelled your route at the exact same time and not produced what you produced. You are very kind but Isuspect I am one of those

Mark, this is a wonderful shot. The reflective pool of water really makes this shot for me. I had to go back to Dec. 22nd to find your post..."Cosmic Dance." That shot simply blew my socks off, and is still one of my all time favorite posts. You are fortunate to have such a beautiful place for subject material. And we are all fortunate that you upload such amazing images for us all to appreciate.

Just want you to know that the reflection of the monolith on my monitor does not look light (as it did on John's, aka realkuhl). Also, took a minute, or so, to find the moon.

I'm not a professional photographer (just a bloke with a camera) and am not qualified to offer any type of critique outside of aesthetic appeal. Just want you to know that I give this image and "Cosmic Dance" a perfect ten for aestectic appeal. It is said that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Well, you did an amazing job of translating a spectacularly beatiful place into a spectacularly beautiful image that earns a perfect "10" in my book.

Thanks for posting, and I look forward to seeing more of this magnificent place.

Dave I.

PS - I would love to know where this is.

Mark, the new version is killer!!
The sky is indeed crazy, and the whole scene magical! Really like the counter-balancing warm, golden areas on the right and left, crossing the axis of sky and reflection. Just gorgeous!

It took me a while to find the moon but I eventually got it....Another fantastic, dramatic shot. The reflection of that wonderful sky along with the light is very nice.

Truly an amazing image, Mark. I'm pretty sure I could shoot around the clock for several months (and spend at least $40 grand in the process) and not come home with even ONE image of this caliber. But I'd sure as heck love to try it!

Incredible picture, well seen and well worth salt and sand in your shorts bringin it home. Cal

In case some folks here might not know... pressing the key will hide the Internet Explorer's title, address, menu, and tool bars at the top of your screen and make nearly all of the images posted here show completely. If you mouse over the area at the top pf the screen, the navigation stuff will appear so you can operate the browser in this mode. Pressing again will put it all back.
