The moon is a very nice touch Mark.

Looks like you angled the grad on the side of the hill there? I though you mostly blended shots now? (I say grad because I can see the transition in the sky where it's lighter blue and then dark blue just to the right of the hill. I'm only questioning this because there doesn't appear to be any transition or gradation in the lower part of the image, so now I'm thinking blend)

Anyways, this is very, very cool. That said, I don't like that the stack is completely silhouetted while the hill is still in direct sunlight. I'm sure there's good reason for this (trying not to blow out the horizon on the right?), but it still looks...funny...to me. (I see you're not asking for critiques anymore, so let me know if I should keep all my stupid comments to myself )

You really managed to make the most of your time up there. You've produced some great shots, and the clouds you captured, wow! Some of the coolest, and most varied I've seen. Good stuff.

Okay Mark, Thanks alot! Now I have driven myself crazy for 10 minutes trying to see that moon.... uggghhh! Maybe I am looking too hard now... Sheesh!

Well I do really like this shot. Great lines in the clouds, love the reflection. This is just simply awesome!

Whoa!... This is a cool shot. I wish my monitor was large enough to see the whole thing without scrolling. Cool shot Mark.

Thank you.

No problem. This is all about light. Freaky lines were filling the sky at sunset. I headed quickly towards the monolith. I found a pool of water that reflected the monolith nicely jumped to my stomach, and put the monolith roughly in the intersecting line of thirds. I laid on my stomach in salt water and wet sand while people walked by me thinking I was a crazy and I just bracketed and shot with tripod and cable release as the sun set. Again, I was blessed to be at the right place at the right time.

The polarizer caused the darkened area of sky. I only bracketed on this one. But you are right, so I did a ever so slight dodge and burn in those areas to correct that issue and then re submitted the image just now, although I doubt anyone but you or I would have ever seen that. Great eye. As far as the composition, I like it weird. But thanks for your points here.

Sorry JIM to drive you crazy, but it is almost in the middle of the shot, as well as in the reflection. It points toward the right almost perfectly. I did not put it in, it was just there. When I was removing dust specks from the original I almost did not see it, then all of a sudden it jumped out at me! In a 36, 40, 50+ inch print I think it should show clearly.

By the way everyone I will re submit it at 750px tall. I did not know that a lot of monitors don't do 800... sorry. Also you can try a CTRL / + or - to increase your screen size or to shrink it temporarily.

Nice shot overall - not sure about the monolith being lighter in the reflection than in the sky... the sky follow the rule of reflection being darker but the monolith doesn't. Also the slight clipping of the Left hill in the reflection is a bit of a distration. Awesome light and very nice clouds....

Very nice shot Mark. Nice clouds and I found the moon all by myself . However, I liked the other shot of this monolith more (I remember you posted it a few months ago).
