One of my very good clients called me yesterday in a panic for an image that I captured for them in 2021. They needed the RAW file to reproduce an 8' mural of the image. When they called I think that they were expecting me to say that I don't save images once I've delivered a set to the client. I told them that I could pull that image up in just a couple of minutes and Dropbox it to them, they were pretty happy. Every time I throw more money at my back up system I wonder if it's really worth it, these scenarios confirm that it is.
Oh, the RF200-800 is enroute. I haven't seen a single review that doesn't say that it is a wonderful lens. I'm sure that there are some minor compromises, life doesn't let you drive an Aston for the price of a Yugo, but everything the reviewers are saying about this lens is very positive. There are even a couple of shooters who put it's low light capabilities to the test, being an F/9 that would point to a weak spot, but the ability to boost ISO without a huge noise penalty minimized any problems for them. I'm not going to jump to any conclusions before I shoot with it, but it looks like a great companion to the RF100-500 for an investment equal to the sales tax on the RF800/5.6, with the added ability to zoom. We'll see though, many people's idea of "razor sharp" doesn't match mine, that and focus capture speed will be what I look at first, those are deal breakers.
IT IS JIm!!!!!!!!
I had a similar "call" about pictures I had from the Pentagon 9-11 massacre from the Defense Dept. last week.
Yeah I saved them on the RAID-ARRAY you told me about!
Thanks!
